Forza Horizon 6’s latest challenge has turned Tokyo’s busiest junction into pure chaos

Not very fast but definitely furious

A couple of weeks ago, the Forza Horizon 6 festival playlist started, introducing additional challenges for players to complete throughout the game’s open-world version of Japan. One of the latest challenges, which is available until Wednesday, June 10, requires achieving three “awesome” drift or e-drift skills at Shibuya Crossing, located in the heart of Tokyo.

The challenge has resulted in absolute chaos. In both the game and real life, Shibuya Crossing is one of the busiest junctions in the whole city — and the world. Now that there are players trying to drift across it constantly, the iconic landmark is in disarray. Check out the video in the tweet embedded above for one example.

The reason it’s causing so much carnage is twofold. Drifting in Forza Horizon 6 is not easy and requires some practice to master. (Check out our drifting tips!) What’s more, Shibuya Crossing isn’t a wide open space that is ideal for drifting, and with plenty of fences around the edges, players are struggling to complete the challenge.

While the vehicles of two real players will ghost through one another and not cause a collision, hitting a “mob” car, aka one controlled by the game to help make the world feel more alive and add traffic to the roads, will cause a wreck. Shibuya Crossing has a lot of these, so they quickly pile up.

If you’re trying to complete this challenge, you may be better served by waiting a few days for this area of the map to calm down. Or you can head that way and join in with the fun, your choice.
