GO Transit is adding train service to another Ontario city

6 July 20262 Mins Read

Metrolinx is just days away from rolling out service to the popular Ontario tourist destination of Stratford.

Service on the Kitchener Line will officially extend to the new Stratford GO Station on July 6, 2026, a long-awaited upgrade that will serve the renowned theatre destination with daily year-round trips.

The new GO stop will not only boost tourism in Stratford, but also bring the city into Toronto’s regional commuter sphere.

Starting Monday, weekday trips in and out of Stratford will be a whole lot easier, with roughly 2.5-hour commutes in and out of Toronto’s Union Station via an express train departing Stratford at 6:16 a.m. and arriving at Union Station at 8:47 a.m., and an afternoon express train departing Union Station at 4:52 p.m., arriving at Stratford at 7:28 p.m.

Express trains will make stops along the way in Kitchener, Guelph, Acton, Georgetown, Mount Pleasant, Brampton and Bramalea. While it’s not a direct shot in and out of the city, it certainly beats fighting it out on congested highways.

Weekend express trains will depart Union Station at 8:49 a.m., arriving at Stratford at 11:16 a.m., and depart Stratford at 6:16 p.m., arriving back at Union Station at 8:45 p.m.

Metrolinx has dropped a full schedule for the new GO Stratford stop on its website.
