Calling all travellers headed to Amsterdam via train this week – we’ve got some bad news. Due to a fire and power outage near Rotterdam Centraal train station, international rail operator Eurostar has warned travellers against making journeys to the Netherlands right now.
A notice on the company’s website posted on Tuesday June 30 says that, due to train services across the country facing severe disruption and subsequently being extremely limited, ‘our trains are subject to significant delays and cancellations, and we’re unfortunately unable to offer alternative travel options’.
The damage caused by this fire is not yet clear, but Eurostar has warned that the situation will affect journeys until at least Friday July 3, and passengers are advised to cancel their journeys and not attempt to travel until after this date.
What can I do if my Eurostar journey is affected?
According to the operator’s notice, if you have a journey booked on June 30, or July 1, 2, or 3, you’ve got three options. You can either exchange your booking for another ticket on the same class but on a different day, or cancel and receive an e-voucher or a refund (though this won’t include the booking fees you paid, and will take 28 days).
Not sure what’s best? Well, you’ve apparently got three months from the date on which you were meant to travel to decide.
