Netflix just revealed its complete list of upcoming releases planned for April 2026, and there weren’t too many surprises. One of the few titles we have yet to cover is that the streamer is set to become the streaming home for a massive wave of HISTORY Channel content this spring. From the high-stakes world of the Five Families to the rugged frontiers of early America, here is your preview of the four titles joining the library on April 13th.
While the month’s documentaries are primarily made up of Netflix Originals, these licensed titles join other HISTORY Channel titles that have come and gone from the library over the last decade or so.
Following a successful year of licensing HBO and Disney titles, Netflix has turned its attention back to a frequent partner: A+E Networks. On April 13th, a curated collection of HISTORY’s most popular “docudrama” franchises will arrive, led by the Michael Imperioli-narrated look at the Mob and the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced Frontiersmen. All of these serve as excellent additions, as the United States looks back on its history during the country’s semiquincentennial of independence.
What’s Coming from the HISTORY Channel on April 13th:

- American Godfathers: The Five Families (Season 1) – If you loved Netflix’s Fear City, this is the perfect companion piece. Narrated by The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli, this series traces the 50-year rise and fall of the Five Families of New York.
- The Men Who Built America: Frontiersmen (Season 1) – Produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, this high-budget docudrama follows the icons who blazed trails into the unknown American wilderness, including Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark, and Davy Crockett.
- The Booze, Bets and Sex That Built America (Season 1) – Part of the popular “That Built America” franchise, this series explores the surprising origins of the nation’s biggest “vice” industries and the titans who turned them into commercial empires.
- Part of the That Built franchise. First released in 2022.
- America: Our Defining Hours (Season 1) – A sweeping look at 300 years of U.S. history, focusing on how the American spirit was forged during the nation’s most desperate moments of crisis.
- First released in 2020.
