Hit Hulu Aidy Bryant Show ‘Shrill’ Is Finally on Netflix In Select Regions

Aidy Bryant’s critically acclaimed comedy series Shrill has officially arrived on Netflix. As of today, February 25th, subscribers in the United Kingdom and Australia can finally binge-watch all three seasons of the body-positive hit.

We can confirm that Seasons 1-3 of Shrill are now available to stream on Netflix UK, Netflix Canada, and Netflix Australia.

The streamer has picked up the rights for a single year, we’re told, with the show streaming in full through February 2027.

The arrival of Shrill marks a significant shift for the series’ availability outside of the United States. While the show remains a cornerstone of Hulu’s stateside library, the underlying rights are managed by Warner Bros. Television. As we’ve been covering relentlessly, they’ve been licensing to Netflix left and right since Netflix and the company confirmed the purchase back in December.

We don’t currently have intel on whether the series will be joining Netflix in other regions, as some other Warner Bros. Television shows have. A few of them have come to Netflix in waves, so that may be the case here – fingers crossed.

Previously, viewers in the UK had to rely on the BBC iPlayer after its broadcast run on BBC Three. Similarly, Australian fans found the show via SBS On Demand. This move to Netflix consolidates all 22 episodes into one place for a definitive binge-watching experience.

What is ‘Shrill’ About?

Based on Lindy West’s memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman, the series follows Annie (Aidy Bryant), a struggling journalist in Portland who is determined to change her life without changing her body.

Breaking away from traditional “makeover” tropes, Shrill is a celebratory and often hilariously blunt look at a woman who decides to stop apologizing for her existence. Alongside her ride-or-die best friend Fran (played by the brilliant Lolly Adefope), Annie navigates the pitfalls of toxic relationships and the chaos of modern digital media.

The series ran from 2019 to 2021, with all three seasons receiving positive reviews from critics. Allison Shoemaker for RogerEbert wrote at the time of the first season, “Even the weightiest scenes don’t abandon Annie’s wry, casual sense of humor. She’s a fascinating character, played by a fascinating performer, and Bryant makes “Shrill” worth watching all by herself.”

The cast of the series included:

  • Aidy Bryant (SNL) as Annie Easton
  • Lolly Adefope (Ghosts) as Fran
  • John Cameron Mitchell as Gabe
  • Luka Jones as Ryan
  • Patti Harrison as Ruthie
