IHG Hotels & Resorts Hits 1,000 Open Hotels in Europe

23 October 20264 Mins Read

In Brief: IHG Hotels & Resorts has reached the milestone of 1,000 open hotels in Europe, underscoring the company’s continued expansion and operational scale in the region.

IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) today announced it has surpassed 1,000 open hotels across Europe.

Over the past three years, IHG has rapidly expanded, adding more than 210 hotels to its European portfolio – net system size growth of over 25% – strengthening its presence across priority destinations and segments.

Since the start of 2024, IHG has had 36 opening debuts, excluding Ruby hotels, to new countries in Europe for individual brands. Recent brand debuts span Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium and Essentials and Suites categories and include Iceland, Sweden and Greece – offering a stay for every traveller and journey. This 1,000 open hotel milestone comes as IHG now has more than 280 hotels in its European pipeline, demonstrating the further strong growth opportunity across one of the world’s most dynamic travel regions.

Building on a record 2025, IHG has continued to expand and diversify its portfolio. This includes the acquisition of Ruby, the premium urban lifestyle brand designed for modern travellers, and the launch of Noted Collection, its 21st brand, which has already achieved seven hotel signings globally.

Reaching 1,000 hotels reflects the confidence of owners, partners and guests in IHG’s brands, enterprise platform and IHG One Rewards, its leading loyalty programme with more than 160 million members. It also underscores Europe’s enduring appeal as the world’s leading tourism destination, attracting approximately 793 million international arrivals in 2025 – more than half the global total, according to UN Tourism.

Karin Sheppard, SVP & Managing Director, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Surpassing 1,000 open hotels in Europe is a defining moment for IHG and a clear reflection of the strong momentum we are building across the region. This milestone speaks to the strength of our brands, the trust our owners place in us as a partner, the dedication of our brilliant hotel teams delivering exceptional experiences every day, and the loyalty our guests feel towards IHG.

“We are purposefully scaling our portfolio by growing new and established brands in priority markets, supported by sustained investment in our enterprise. Europe remains highly attractive, and with strong fundamentals and a growing pipeline, we are well positioned to deliver long-term value for owners and great stays for guests.”

Recent openings include:

The Hari London, Vignette Collection

The Hari London, Vignette Collection brings Vignette Collection’s distinctive luxury offering to the heart of Belgravia, combining an intimate 85-room, residential-style experience with easy access to Knightsbridge, Hyde Park and London’s renowned cultural and retail destinations. The hotel is part of Vignette Collection’s continued growth across Europe, where the brand now has 13 open hotels and 16 properties in the pipeline, reflecting strong momentum for IHG’s fastest-growing luxury collection brand.

Ruby Lilou Hotel Marseille

Marking Ruby’s debut in France, Ruby Lilou in Marseille reflects the brand’s signature approach to creating hotels deeply connected to their destination. Set between the historic Vieux Port and the creative energy of La Joliette, the hotel combines locally inspired design, laid-back social spaces and a rooftop terrace, placing guests at the heart of one of Marseille’s most exciting districts with easy access to the waterfront, cultural landmarks and thriving business hub.

Crowne Plaza Vienna

Crowne Plaza Vienna recently opened in Vienna’s revitalised Margareten district, showcasing the evolution of Crowne Plaza’s modern premium hospitality experience. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect David Chipperfield and inspired by the Austrian National Library, the hotel combines sustainable design, contemporary comfort and cultural depth, featuring 195 guestrooms and panoramic city views. Its opening further strengthens the brand’s presence across Europe, where Crowne Plaza now has 98 open hotels and a pipeline of 21 more properties, as it continues to modernise and expand to meet the evolving needs of business, leisure and blended travellers.

Together, these openings and a strong development pipeline comprised of both conversion and new build properties have helped position the business for further expansion across Europe and the wider EMEAA region.
