IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed InterContinental Vilamoura – Algarve in partnership with HDP Algarve SA. The hotel, located in Vilamoura, Portugal, is scheduled to open in April 2027 after a comprehensive renovation of the current Crowne Plaza property. The rebranded hotel will feature 323 guest rooms, a selection of restaurants and bars, spa and wellness amenities, leisure facilities, and flexible meeting and event spaces.
Situated near Vilamoura Marina, Praia de Vilamoura, and several golf courses, the hotel will cater to international leisure travelers and the premium meetings and events market.
This signing marks the fourth InterContinental property in Portugal, joining InterContinental Cascais-Estoril, Hotel Indigo Albufeira, Kimpton Atlântico Algarve, and Six Senses Douro Valley. Portugal is one of IHG’s fastest-growing emerging markets in Southern Europe, driven by year-round leisure and city-break demand.
InterContinental Vilamoura – Algarve will join IHG’s Luxury and Lifestyle segment, which, as of March 31, 2026, includes more than 595 open hotels and 392 in development globally. The InterContinental brand has 34 properties across Europe, including the recently opened InterContinental Chantilly Chateau Mont Royal and nine additional pipeline properties, such as InterContinental Belgrade.
InterContinental is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. The opening of InterContinental Vilamoura – Algarve is part of IHG’s strategy to expand its Luxury and Lifestyle presence in Portugal and Southern Europe.
