IKEA Is Opening More Stores Across the U.S.—Here's Whether or Not Your City Is on the List

A trip to IKEA can easily turn into a whole day in the best way possible. If you time it right (read: not peak Saturday afternoon), it’s almost meditative. You start with a cup of coffee or tea, easing into the experience like you’ve got nowhere else to be. Then you wander the showrooms, peeking into perfectly staged living rooms and mentally rearranging your own furniture at least six times.

Halfway through, you realize you’ve worked up an appetite and, conveniently, the café is right there. A leisurely lunch break? Don’t mind if you do. Refueled, you head into the marketplace, tossing a few “odds and ends” into that big yellow bag. It could be candles, dish towels or maybe a faux plant you absolutely didn’t plan on buying. Well, good news, because IKEA is opening new locations in the U.S., making this dreamy day a reality in even more spots around the country.

The Swedish retailer announced that it’s adding four new U.S. locations to its 2026 store-opening lineup. That’s on top of six previously announced new locations. So what does this mean? Ten more opportunities to find its latest buttery soft duvet covers and chic bamboo serving bowls in stock.

The four newly announced IKEA locations opening in 2026 include:

  • IKEA Culver City, a “city-center” store in Los Angeles. (So smaller than a traditional IKEA, but there’s still a café, baby!)
  • IKEA Tulsa, its first store in Oklahoma.
  • IKEA Gurnee Mills, in the Chicago area.
  • IKEA Fort Collins, its third Colorado location.

Which New IKEA Stores Were Previously Announced?

If you’ve been following IKEA store news, you know the retailer had already announced six openings for 2026 before adding the four other locations mentioned above. Those include IKEA stores in Huntsville, Ala.; University Park in Dallas; Phoenix; Rockwall in Dallas; Chantilly/Dulles in the Washington, D.C., region; and Houston–Webster, Texas.

IKEA just launched some really great new finds as part of its spring collection and, true to form, they’re pretty affordable, too. There are playful pendant lamps, sturdy furniture styles and sweet small-space organizers.

And, remember, no trip to IKEA is complete without a soft serve cone on the way out. It’s retail, but it’s also ritual. When it’s not crowded, and you’ve got time on your hands, this is a spot that feels less like a store and more like a multisensory outing, with it being part inspiration, part treasure hunt and part tiny staycation.
