It goes without saying that Jimmy Kimmel has been a champion of Guillermo Rodriguez and his professional partner Witney Carson during their tenure on Dancing with the Stars, so he professed his outrage on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight when the two were eliminated at the end of Tuesday night’s Super Bowl-themed episode.

Kimmel pointed out that somehow against all odds Guillermo and Witney made it to Week 5 on Dancing with the Stars and was the toast of the Internet.

“Last week, Guillermo and Witney had more than triple the YouTube views of their closet opponent,” Kimmel said, using a chart that showed that Guillermo and Witney had 719k views, while Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson, who came in at No. 2, only had 231K.

Kimmel also showed a lot of clips from news shows across the U.S. that were rooting for Guillermo, and also from our neighbors to the North.

And then he got to the crux of the matter, saying, “Tonight, Guillermo and Witney danced a Salsa to Bad Bunny, the theme was the Super Bowl, and the halftime show was about as caliente as it gets. In my book, that was an 11 out of 10 but let’s see what those radical, left wing judges had to say.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live then ran a clip of the judges scores:

Carrie Ann Inaba, 6. Derek Hough, 5. Joe Buck 6   Bruno Tonioli, 5 = 22 out of 40.

Kimmel then continued, “That was his highest score yet and once again, Guillermo was in the bottom two and once again, he relied on you the viewers to pull him through.”

Which, of course didn’t happen, leading Kimmel to say, “What a kick in the Mirrorballs.”

Then Kimmel went live to Guillermo and Witney backstage at DWTS. Here’s the conversation:

Jimmy: “This is an outrage. Will you accept the results or take legal action?”

Guillermo: “I think we should take legal action.”

Witney: “Absolutely.”

Jimmy: “Witney, your choreography this season has been absolutely incredible. The situations you put Guillermo in, absolutely impressive. Honestly, you’ve taken this lump of playdough, and you’ve sculpted him into a masterpiece. What will you miss most about training Guillermo?”

Witney: “Oh, man, everything. He’s such a sweetheart. He’s so loved by everyone. But Jimmy, now we don’t have this weird custody battle. You can have him now.”

Jimmy: “You’re just giving him up like that?”

Witney: “I have to.”

Jimmy: “I was thinking about adopting you, too, and then we could have a whole family here.”

Witney: “I would love that. Absolutely, I’m down.”

Jimmy: “Guillermo, did you achieve what you set out to do and what did you set out to do?”

Guillermo: “Jimmy, I said I was going to lose weight and I did lost weight.”

Jimmy: “You lost weight and you gained a pregnant friend. Again, Witney, thanks for taking such good care of Guillermo throughout this. Guillermo, you have brought such joy to so many and now we have nothing to look forward to ever again. This better not be how it goes in the midterms.”

Dancing with the Stars is simulcast on ABC and Disney+ Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Streams the next day on Hulu. The theme next week is “Dedication Night.”
