4 September 20263 Mins Read

Job Title: Musical Theatre Teacher (Singing) – Stagecoach Performing Arts
Location: Calgary, AB
Job Type: Part-time (3 hours per week, Saturday mornings)
Compensation: $30 – $35 per hour
Start Date: September 2026

About Us
Stagecoach Performing Arts has been inspiring young performers for over 30 years, with a presence in hundreds of communities worldwide. We provide high-quality, part-time training in singing, dancing, and acting for students aged 4–16—nurturing not only their artistic talents but also their confidence, creativity, and resilience.

Our programs are designed to support every student, from enthusiastic beginners to experienced young performers. At Stagecoach, we aim to give our students Creative Courage for Life, fostering a warm, inclusive, and encouraging environment where they feel empowered to express themselves.

About the Role
As a Singing Teacher, you’ll work with three age groups throughout the day: Ages 6–9, Ages 10–12, Ages 13–16, in a large group ensemble class format. You’ll be responsible for preparing and implementing lesson plans that engage a large group of students, appropriate to their age group and engaging a variety of different skill levels. At various times throughout the year you may be given specific materials to teach and to prepare your students for a showcase performance, recital or musical theatre performance.

Each week, students rotate between singing, dancing, and drama classes in small groups. You’ll teach from your own studio space and welcome each group for their dedicated singing lesson of about 50 minutes each.

Classes should blend vocal technique with musical expression—exploring breath control, pitch, tone, harmony, and ensemble work. Lessons are planned in advance to align with term themes or upcoming performances, but also offer space for your own creativity and teaching style. Each lesson should begin with a warm-up and end with a cool down. There should be time to work on and prepare specific material while also infusing your creativity to engage them in music beyond just singing.

You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working together to create a joyful and structured performing arts experience for students.

Key Responsibilities
• Teach singing to students aged 6–14 in weekly classes (Saturday mornings, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in vocal technique, musical theatre repertoire, musicality and group singing
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
• Collaborate with drama and dance teachers to prepare for performances and ensure a cohesive ensemble experience
• Assist in leading end-of-term performances and showcases

Qualifications
• Experience teaching voice or leading children/youth in music or musical theatre
• Background in vocal performance, music education, or theatre (educational or professional)
• Ability to read music and/or play a musical instrument considered an asset
• Energetic, reliable, and passionate about helping young people grow through music
• Able to connect with and manage students across a range of ages and skill levels
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain one)

Why Join Stagecoach?
• Join a passionate and creative teaching team
• Help students develop confidence and skills that go beyond the classroom
• Opportunities for ongoing training and professional growth
• Competitive compensation for part-time hours
• Opportunity to contribute to exciting musical theatre performances
