Grande Prairie Live Theatre (GPLT) is looking for a dynamic, collaborative General Manager to lead our operations, champion our artistic vision, and help shape the future of live theatre in Northwestern Alberta.
About the Role
The General Manager (GM) is the senior operational leader of GPLT and a key partner in bringing our artistic vision to life. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working closely with the President, the GM oversees:
• Finance & administration
• Human resources
• Facilities & operations
• Fundraising support
• Day to day organizational management
This role is perfect for a hands on leader who thrives in a small team environment, values collaboration, and is motivated by community connection and cultural impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
As General Manager, you will:
• Develop and execute strategic plans alongside the Board of Directors
• Oversee fundraising efforts, including grants, sponsorships, and donor relations
• Monitor revenue, expenses, and financial performance, providing clear reports to the Board
• Manage day to day operations including facilities, scheduling, box office, and administration
• Support directors, producers, and volunteers in delivering high quality productions
• Lead marketing and outreach efforts to promote GPLT productions and events
• Build strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders
What We’re Looking For
You’re a great fit if you have:
• 5+ years of leadership or management experience in theatre, arts, or nonprofit organizations
• Strong financial management and budgeting skills
• Experience with grant writing, contract negotiation, and stakeholder relations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• The ability to juggle multiple priorities independently and collaboratively
• A passion for theatre, arts access, and community engagement
• Experience working with Boards of Directors
• Familiarity with Canadian theatre practices
• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising or sponsorship development
The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal record check.
Salary & Working Conditions
• Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 annually
• Office based role with regular presence in theatre facilities
• 40 hour work week, with occasional evenings and weekends during productions
• Flexible time off policies to support work life balance
