JW Marriott and Aimbridge Hospitality announced plans to renovate Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa in Dana Point, California, and rebrand it as The Ocean Cliffs at Dana Point, a JW Marriott Resort.
The phased renovation will include a new central resort pool, an expanded multi-acre event lawn, ballroom and meeting facility updates, a new 6,000-square-foot ballroom, a redesigned arrival area, a signature restaurant and updated resort amenities.
The project will refresh the property’s 371 guest rooms. The resort will continue to offer its family pool area, cabana rentals, Kid’s Club and Splash Zone, with new programming and outdoor activities also planned.
The event lawn will be expanded and relocated adjacent to the Richard Henry Dana Ballroom. The renovation will also update pre-function meeting areas as indoor-outdoor spaces and expand the resort’s arrival and public areas.
HKS and ROAM will lead the redesign, which includes changes to the entry drive, porte cochere, lobby, dining spaces and an ocean-view deck. The lobby is planned to connect with dining areas and the deck.
The new pool will be located at the center of the property and will include food and beverage offerings and lounge areas. The renovation also includes spa updates and a room refresh.
The property overlooks Dana Point Harbor and is located near Lantern Bay Park. It has operated as Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa and is managed by Aimbridge Hospitality.
The transition to The Ocean Cliffs at Dana Point, a JW Marriott Resort, is planned alongside the ongoing restoration of Dana Point Harbor.
