Kimpton Ashbel New York–Park Avenue Hotel Opens in Midtown Manhattan

Kimpton Ashbel New York–Park Avenue is now open at 70 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, near Grand Central Terminal and Bryant Park. The hotel occupies a Beaux-Arts building originally constructed in 1928 as the Doral Park Avenue Hotel and is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio.

The property features 205 guestrooms, including 14 connecting rooms for families. Guestrooms are designed with tailored interiors, soft palettes, and generous proportions. Upon entry, guests encounter a sequence of residential-style rooms rather than a traditional lobby. The ground floor includes interconnected spaces such as a foyer, living room, and family room, with oversized wood portals framing original architectural columns and windows.

The living room area features a stone fireplace, built-in seating, a floating open-space banquette, and a library. The hotel’s art program, curated by Soho Art Gallery, includes commissioned original mixed-media pieces, and a collection of Assouline and Taschen books is available.

Kimpton Ashbel is the fourth Kimpton hotel to open in New York City, following Kimpton Eventi, Kimpton Theta, and Kimpton Era. The property previously operated as a Kimpton hotel in 2004 before undergoing a large-scale renovation. The hotel’s design was led by Busta Studio, and the restored limestone-clad façade dates back to the original 1928 construction. Furnishings were custom-designed, incorporating metal accents and organic textures.

The hotel includes Park & Bel Café, which serves coffee, baked goods, seasonal fruit, and sandwiches in the morning, and small plates, cheeses, cured meats, and spiced nuts in the evening. The café also features a bar cart program with cocktails, craft beer, and wine.

Amenities include the Kimpton Kickstart program, offering premium coffees and light bites in the morning, and the Kimpton Social hour in the evenings, with complimentary cocktails and small plates for guests.

Kimpton Ashbel joins other recent additions to the Kimpton portfolio, including Kimpton Mirador Pacific Grove Monterey and Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas.
