IO Interactive confirmed Thursday that Lana Del Rey is the musical artist behind the theme for its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light. An official lyric video for Del Rey’s “First Light” hit music streaming platforms this morning, and you can take a listen below.
The description of that video confirms that Del Rey is the singer and songwriter of the new theme, while David Arnold is the composer. This is Lana Del Rey’s first time singing a Bond theme, though her involvement with 007 First Light has been an open secret since last year. Arnold had previously scored Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day, Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace. He also co-wrote my favorite Bond theme, Casino Royale’s “You Know My Name.”
Lana Del Rey isn’t the only celebrity associated with 007 First Light. Patrick Gibson (The OA, Shadow and Bone) portrays this rendition of Bond, while Gemma Chan and Lenny Kravitz are also part of the cast.
While we shared the YouTube lyric video for “Fight Light,” it has also been released across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, and Tidal. Unfortunately, there are no visuals to go with this new theme yet, so fans will have to wait until closer to the game’s launch to see the entire opening in action.
007 First Light is the first James Bond console game in over a decade and features gameplay inspired by IO Interactive’s stealth-action series Hitman. It will serve as an origin story of sorts for Bond, showing how he earned his reputation and the moniker 007 during his early days with MI6. The theme song reflects that, addressing Bond’s youth and willingness to run toward danger.
007 First Light will be released on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on May 27. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also in the works, although it recently was delayed to a vague summer 2026 release window.
