Latin American food, music, and dancing are taking over downtown Calgary this July

24 June 20263 Mins Read

Fiestaval is taking over downtown Calgary, turning Eau Claire Plaza into a three-day celebration of Latin American culture. Taking place the weekend after Stampede, the festival brings music, food and cultural programming right into the city core.

So if you’re looking for a reason to head downtown again after Stampede wraps up, this is it.

Now let’s dive into what’s happening at the festival.

Live music, food vendors, and cultural performances

According to Fiestaval, the festival centres around live music, with DJ sets and dance performances that bring the plaza to life all weekend long. This year’s lineup includes La 33, Fulanito, and Oscar López, along with salsa dancing and cultural groups that keep the vibes high from morning to night.

Food is also a major part of the festival, with more than 30 vendors serving a wide array of Latin American dishes. You can expect everything from tacos, empanadas and arepas to churros and fresh tropical drinks. It’s the perfect chance to try something new or enjoy some of your favourite comfort foods as you wander through the plaza.

Alongside the food and live performances, there will be artisan vendors, a kids’ area, and a beer garden throughout the space for relaxing and enjoying a nice, cold beverage.

There will also be a Zumba masterclass happening on-site for anyone who wants to jump in and learn a few new dance moves. And if you’re a sports fan, the FIFA World Cup final will be streamed on the big screens, so you won’t have to miss any of the action while you’re there.

What to know before you go

Fiestaval runs from Friday, July 17, to Sunday, July 19, and since the event is completely free to attend, no tickets are required.

Visitors planning to attend may want to arrive earlier in the day to avoid peak crowds and get closer access to performances and food vendors.

So if you’re looking for a way to shake off the post-Stampede blues without spending too much, Fiestaval is an easy answer. Whether you’re going with friends, stopping for the food or looking to catch some cultural performances, the festival is an easy way to feel like you’ve travelled to Latin America for the day, without ever leaving Calgary.

When: Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19, 2026
Time: Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Eau Claire Plaza – 101 Barclay Parade SW, Calgary, Alta.
