Maddox Jolie Drops Pitt From His Name, Following Siblings' Lead

Maddox, the eldest child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has apparently become the latest member of the family to drop Pitt from their name. According to PEOPLE, Jolie’s film, Couture, debuted in theaters in France on Feb. 18. When the credits rolled, the 24-year-old, who worked as the third assistant director on the film, was listed as Maddox Jolie.

It’s unclear if he legally dropped Pitt from his name. When Couture premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2025, the Press Materials showed his name as Maddox Jolie, as well. However, he is still listed as Maddox Jolie-Pitt under cast & crew on the film’s IMDb page. He was also still listed as Jolie-Pitt when he worked as a production assistant on Jolie’s 2024 Netflix film, Maria.

Maddox is the oldest of six siblings, and the fourth to drop Pitt from their name. In Nov. 2023, Zahara joined the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College. During the ceremony, Essencefilmed the 21-year-old introducing herself as Zahara Marley Jolie.

In May 2024, Vivienne, along with Jolie, was one of the co-producers for the musical production of The Outsiders. The 17-year-old was listed in the program as Vivienne Jolie.

That same month, Shiloh turned 18. Just days after her birthday, she filed to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie. While Pitt didn’t personally respond to requests for comment, a source told Us Weekly that he wasn’t ready to give up on them, “but knowing his children are dropping his last name is upsetting.”

While Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, and Vivienne have all taken steps to distance themselves from their father’s name, 22-year-old Pax and 17-year-old Knox still have the Jolie-Pitt moniker.

In 2024, Pax was involved in a pretty bad e-bike accident, which saw him end up in the ICU for about a week. Six months later, he got into another e-bike accident, crashing into the passenger side of a car. Most recently, he turned up at the Sundance Film Festival for a private screening of Self Custody with the film’s directors.

Knox tends to stay out of the limelight, instead focusing on his Muay Thai. In 2016, he did get a part in his mom’s film, Kung Fu Panda 3. He voiced Ku ku, one of the young pandas.
