Malibu Launches Vibrant New Flavor: ‘Bold and Bright’

21 January 20263 Mins Read

Big news, Malibu fans! The popular spirit is no longer just a coconut-flavored liqueur, the company is officially launching a new spirit with an even more tropical twist.

Malibu Pink is the newest in the lineup of white rum-based Malibu liqueur, and it’s the “bold and bright” new addition that’ll add a splash of sunshine to cocktails year-round, according to the brand.

The new release was officially announced today (Wednesday, Jan. 21) and, thankfully, it’s not heading out as a limited-time offer, but a permanent one. So, if you’re the type of consumer who prefers to savor the season, you can expect Malibu Pink to be around come warmer months when you’re ready for something a little more summery.

Malibu Pink Brings Tropical Twist to Fan-Favorite Spirit

According to an official statement, Malibu Pink is “bursting” with the fruity flavor of guava, pineapple, and coconut, bringing “a fresh twist to the rum aisle.”

To be clear, Malibu Pink doesn’t replace the original coconut flavors with other tropical fruits. Instead, the tropical-flavored spirit (which, like the original, is 21 percent alcohol by volume) receives a healthy splash of guava and pineapple, alongside the classic coconut that made it a star in the first place. And those added flavors open up a whole new realm of drink possibilities for adult consumers.

“Malibu has always been the go-to drink for those seeking a tropical and exotic experience,” Saragh Killeen, Malibu’s US brand director, shared in a Jan. 21 statement, explaining, “With the launch of Malibu Pink, we’re pairing familiar favorites like coconut and pineapple with new guava-led notes as the next evolution in tropical flavor transporting summer-seekers on a new adventure.”

That “new adventure” could include excellent pairing options like the recommended “Pink Lemonade” recipe (1 part Malibu pink, 2 parts lemonade), a citrusy sparkling water, or on its own as a shot or with some fresh-squeezed lemon or lime poured over some ice (the latter is how this author best prefers it).

Malibu Pink launches nationwide as part of permanent lineup.

As for how the new spirit got its name, well, that’s somewhat of a mystery, but it could have something to do with the fact that the guava-pineapple-coconut-flavored liqueur is a hot pink hue when poured straight from the bottle and dilutes to a lighter hue when mixers are added.

And if you can’t be bothered to play mixologist, Malibu also announced that its new ready-to-drink Dole cocktail began rolling out this month. The new collaboration was teased last summer as the “juiciest collab ever,” and it’s heading out now as a way to embrace the summer mindset year-round in a convenient, canned format.

According to Malibu, its new ready-to-drink Dole cocktails were inspired by the “number one way people enjoy” the spirit, making it simpler than ever to sip on by taking out the hassle of measuring its original coconut-flavored rum and combining it with Dole pineapple juice. The line features four flavors—Pineapple, Pineapple Mango, Pineapple Strawberry and Pineapple Dragon Fruit—and each 12-ounce can contains 4.5 percent ABV (about the same as the average beer), 130 calories, and no artificial sweeteners or colors.

Both Malibu Pink ($16) and the Malibu Dole ready-to-drink cocktails (suggested retail price $19.99 for the variety pack) are expected to be on shelves nationwide now, if not in the coming weeks. To find it locally, try the Malibu product finder.
