Masters of the Universe trailer teases He-Man, Battle Cat, and more

21 January 20262 Mins Read

Amazon MGM Studios is promising to fully reveal a look at its new Masters of the Universe movie on Thursday, but a teaser trailer (for that trailer) gives us our first official peek at some of the film’s heroes and the magical planet of Eternia. That includes a few shots of Nicholas Galitzine’s Prince Adam and his allies Man-at-Arms, Teela, and Battle Cat.

But a proper look at film leads He-Man and Jared Leto’s Skeletor is still under wraps for now. Masters of the Universe fans will have to wait until Thursday morning for a glimpse at all the heroes and villains of Mattel and Amazon MGM Studios’ action figure-led film.

But what we’ve seen so far is promising. Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms and Camila Mendes as Teela look authentic to their character designs — as does the computer-generated Cringer/Battle Cat. From this brief look, Masters of the Universe is set to deliver on the massive feline’s memorable design.

The new live-action Masters of the Universe will follow 10-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword, the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.

Masters of the Universe is directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee), based on a screenplay by Chris Butler (ParaNorman, Missing Link).

Mattel’s Masters of the Universe was first introduced to the world in 1982 through a line of action figures, which was followed by the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. The original animation ran for just two seasons, across 130 episodes, but spawned multiple spinoffs (e.g., She-Ra: Princess of Power), sequel series (including two Netflix animated series), and animated movies.

The new Masters of the Universe will be released in movie theaters on June 5, 2026.
