My Adventures with Green Lantern makes Jessica Cruz a magical girl

Adult Swim’s My Adventures with Superman redefined the Man of Steel by fusing comic book action with shonen anime sensibilities. Now the series is reaching for another classic genre for My Adventures with Green Lantern, which turns Green Lantern Jessica Cruz into a magical girl.

Jessica Cruz, voiced by Moana star Auliʻi Cravalho, made her first appearance at a comic convention in the season 3 premiere of My Adventures with Superman. The Green Lantern spinoff will be focused on her experience as a student Hal Jordan Memorial High in Coast City. She’ll have to learn to confront her fears, training in a mystic temple under Kilowog. A clip shared at Annecy Festival 2026 shows her not just reciting the “In brightest day, in darkest night” Green Lantern oath but singing it as she undergoes a magical girl transformation.

While all the villains in My Adventures with Superman can be tied back to Krypton or Kryptonian technology, co-showrunner Jake Wyatt said My Adventures with Green Lantern will take a very different approach when designing the Red and Yellow Lanterns Jessica will have to fight.

“We wanted to get weird with the bad guys,” Wyatt said. “We needed hot evil people to scare the hell out of Jess and her buddies.”

Those buddies will include Kyle Rayner, the star pitcher on the baseball team at Hal Jordan High.

“I’m a kid from the ‘90s,” Wyatt added. “Kyle was the young gun Lantern of his day.”

Alex DeWitt, Kyle’s girlfriend from the comics who was notoriously killed and shoved in Rayner’s refrigerator, will also be a main character. “She is everything Jessica thinks she should be,” Wyatt said. “She is tall, blonde and better than softball. But Alex is going to have her own problems.”

No release date has been announced for My Adventures with Green Lantern.
