Adding to its ever-growing roster of adult animation, Netflix has officially greenlit Dad’s House, a brand-new animated comedy series hailing from the brilliant comedic minds behind Smiling Friends and Danger 5. Here is everything we know so far about the newly announced Australian comedy series.
At the helm of Dad’s House is an all-star trio of Australian comedy creators serving as Showrunners and Executive Producers: Michael Cusack (the co-creator of Adult Swim’s massive hit Smiling Friends, as well as YOLO), Dario Russo (Danger 5, Italian Spiderman, The Fox), and David Ashby (Danger 5, Italian Spiderman).
Handling the animation and production are Princess Pictures and Bento Box Entertainment (the studio famous for bringing Bob’s Burgers and Grimsburg to life, in addition to Netflix’s Paradise PD and Farzar).
What is Dad’s House about?
The series promises to bring a heavy dose of awkward, relatable, and likely chaotic family comedy. Here is the official logline provided by Netflix:
“In small-town suburban Australia, thirteen-year-old child of divorce, Sean, spends every second weekend with his laidback, but well-meaning dad, Ian. Cramming quality dad-time into a single weekend is already a tall order — but Ian has a remarkable gift for making it so much harder than it needs to be.”
Who is in the voice cast for Dad’s House?
The showrunners won’t just be working behind the scenes; they are stepping into the recording booth, too. While specific character roles haven’t been officially mapped out just yet, here is the confirmed voice cast for the series so far:
- Michael Cusack
- Dario Russo
- David Ashby
- Felicity Ward (The Office Australia, Wakefield, The Inbetweeners 2)

This adds to a slew of recent announcements on the animation front, with Bass x Machina due out later this year, along with Ricky Gervais’ Alley Cats (set to debut a couple of episodes at the Annecy Film Festival), in addition to upcoming titles like Dang!, Living the Dream, Magic: The Gathering, and Midnight Sun. That’s in addition to returning titles like Blue Eye Samurai S2 (coming back in 2027), Devil May Cry S2, Long Story Short S2, and Haunted Hotel S2.
There is no official release date yet for Dad’s House (Netflix just states Coming Soon), but as production continues, we expect to see more details—and hopefully a teaser trailer—soon
