Netflix Hands Danish Crime Drama Series ‘The Asset’ Season 2 Renewal

Netflix has officially greenlit a second season of the breakout Danish crime drama The Asset. Following its explosive debut in late 2025, the series is set to return with Netflix confirming the renewal today.

Released across a six-part first season on Netflix on October 27th, 2025, the crime drama follows undercover agent Tea, who becomes torn between her mission and a desire to help the ringleader’s girlfriend escape while infiltrating a criminal empire. The series ends on a concise point but will be back for more.

What to Expect in Season 2

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the “cat and mouse” game is about to get significantly more dangerous. Conceptual Director Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm teased a major shift in dynamics for the upcoming episodes, saying in a statement:

“It’s truly heartwarming to see how well The Asset has been received. We’re thrilled for the opportunity to dive deeper into each character and unfold their stories for our viewers. This second season turns everything upside down as Tea and Ashley’s worlds collide once again and new challenges push them to their breaking point.”

The new season promises to push the returning cast members—including Clara Dessau and Maria Cordsen—to their absolute limits in a fight for survival and justice. Production is officially slated to begin in Copenhagen in 2026.

Season 2 will also star Afshin Firouzi, Nicolas Bro, and Soheil Bavi, among others, with Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm serving as Conceptual Director. Production is led by Jacob Jarek, Marta Mleczek, and Matilda Appelin, while Frederik Ringtved and Sahlstrøm also head the writing team. Episode scripts are penned by Johanne Algren, Oscar Giese, and Christian Bengtson. The project is produced by Profile Pictures.

How well did The Asset Season 2 perform on Netflix?

Why did The Asset get a season 2 renewal? It ticked a lot of boxes.

First of all, it entered the daily top 10s in 90 countries around the world and spent double-figure days in all of them. Most pertinently, as we’ve covered with international shows, it performed well in the home country, a prerequisite for a renewal, even if it doesn’t necessarily travel abroad. In the case of The Asset, it spent 60 days straight in the Danish top 10s.

The show also ranked in the weekly Non-English TV top 10s for a total of four weeks, picking up 91.7 million viewing hours, equating to 20.5M completed viewing equivalents. By the end of the year, that number of views had surpassed 23.2M. Here’s how its views break down week to week:

Week in Top 10 Week Period Hours Viewed Views / CVE Weekly Rank
1 Oct 26 to Nov 2, 2025  53,700,000 (New) 11,300,000 1
2 Nov 2 to Nov 9, 2025 25,200,000 (-53%) 5,300,000 2
3 Nov 9 to Nov 16, 2025 12,200,000 (-52%) 2,600,000 7
4 Nov 16 to Nov 23, 2025 6,000,000 (-51%) 1,300,000 10

The Asset Season 1 is currently available to stream worldwide on Netflix. We expect Season 2 to arrive in 2027.
