Netflix maps out where these new shows and movies were filmed in B.C.

Netflix in Your Neighbourhood maps out the filming locations behind some of the platform’s best titles, and many of them were filmed in B.C.

It takes the guesswork out of your next Netflix binge and allows you to uncover even more about the production of your favourite Netflix film or show.

You can explore by show, city, province, or just browse everything that was filmed in Canada; there are over 40 titles total to check out. This includes the addition of four new B.C.-filmed titles.

New Netflix productions filmed in B.C.

Avatar: The Last Airbender, Season 2

New to Hollywood North’s rap sheet is the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the live remake of the epic fantasy that defined so many millennial childhoods. In the show, Aang and his friends journey deeper into the Earth Kingdom while encountering threats from the Fire Nation.

Season 2 of the series was filmed across the province, including locations in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Surrey, and Squamish. If you want to visit the actual places where it was filmed, you can add the Britannia Mine Museum, Kawartha Dairy Farm, Mount Seymour, and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden to your list of places to explore.

Voicemails for Isabelle

Fiorino via Voicemails for Isabelle, Netflix

Filmed in Vancouver, Langley, and New West, Voicemails for Isabelle is a new series set in San Francisco, so production definitely had their work cut out for them. Specific locations they filmed in include Vancouver’s Bâtard Bakery, Grandview Park, Fiorino, and David Lam Park.

The rom-com follows Jill after the passing of her sister, as she leaves voicemails chronicling her life, only to learn that her sister’s phone number was reassigned.

Remarkably Bright Creatures

Based on the bestselling novel, Remarkably Bright Creatures is a heartfelt drama following a widow who forms a bond with a Giant Pacific Octopus, who happens to be a resident of the Vancouver Aquarium!

The film came to life behind the camera across Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Lions Bay, Maple Ridge, and Richmond, at places like Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant, Bufala, and the Deep Cove Government Dock.

Million Dollar Secret

Finally, Million Dollar Secret is a B.C.-filmed competition series now with a second season of strategy, deception, and high-stakes challenges. Production chose locations in Kelowna and Lake Country to showcase some of the most breathtaking spots in the Okanagan. This includes Glacier National Park, Château Okanagan, Okanagan Adventure Park, and a slew of scenic wineries in the area.

Other new Netflix productions on the map include Alberta-filmed The Dinosaurs, directed by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Morgan Freeman, Toronto-filmed thriller, I Will Find You, and Glitter & Gold: Ice Dancing, a three-part series filmed in Montreal and Toronto.
