New exhibition with World Cup paraphernalia to debut in Vancouver this May

13 April 20263 Mins Read

If you’re locked into all things FIFA, this is a huge experience to have on your radar as the World Cup nears. A fascinating new exhibition detailing the inner workings of the world’s most beloved sport is coming to Science World this spring, marking its North American debut.

How innovation and tech shape soccer

From video assistant referee systems to high-speed cameras and drones to football friction tests, the exhibition dives deep into the tech and innovation that make the World Cup possible. Presented in partnership with the Province of British Columbia, the touring exhibition is a huge deal for fans of the game, and it’s pretty special that Vancouver is its first stop.

The exhibition features five distinct zones that each explore how soccer (and how we consume it) has evolved:  broadcasting and media, staging the game, intelligent data, innovation lab, and refereeing and fair play.

Today’s advanced data systems and digital tools have not only supported the sport’s growth on the global stage but also enhanced how it’s played, officiated, experienced, and managed. And yet, soccer remains a uniquely human experience with emotion at its heart.

Fans can dive into how both early adjustments and more recent innovations have changed the way we experience professional soccer. The exhibition also highlights the host nations of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with objects connected to Canada’s recent international football history on display.

This includes the jersey worn by Christine Sinclair during Canada’s first Olympic gold-medal-winning game against Sweden at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as well as the match ball from Canada’s game against Croatia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“We are delighted to partner with the FIFA Museum to host an exhibition that showcases the science and technology behind the world’s most popular sport at a time when soccer fans from around the world will be visiting our city,” says Fiona Cole-Hamilton, vice president of experience and products at Science World.

Hon. Anne Kang, B.C.’s minister of tourism, arts, culture, and sport, adds that the exhibition will “give both visiting soccer fans and locals a dynamic and immersive way to explore the sport.”

Ready to check it out for yourself? Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum debuts at Vancouver’s Science World on May 15, 2026, and runs until Sept. 7, 2026.

While booking in advance is not required, it does make admission seamless and ensures you get to go at the time slot of your choosing.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are available online for $37.50 per adult, $25.50 per child, and $30.50 for youth and seniors.

Science World is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (open at 9:30 a.m. for members).

FIFA fever has begun, and this is the perfect opportunity to dive deeper into the sport.
