Nintendo Switch 2 Camera drops to an all-time low price

If you’ve been waiting to pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 Camera but have found it too expensive for such a small novelty, now’s the time to get one.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera typically costs $54.99 following a price hike, but GameStop is offering it for just $9.99. You have to add it to your cart to see the reduced price, but once you do, you’ll see that this is still a fantastic discount of more than 80%.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera was revealed alongside the system itself and tied to the GameChat feature. Nintendo finally built parties and voice chat directly into the console and added USB camera support so people can see each other while they play together. It does support third-party cameras, so going for the Nintendo-made one was the priciest option that never quite felt worth it.

Only a few Switch 2 exclusives really take advantage of it, such as the indie game Chillin’ by the Fire. On the first-party front, Super Mario Party Jamboree: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour minigames had the best use cases for it during the console’s first year.

Last month, Velan Studios’ remake of Star Fox finally added a hilarious feature that made the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera worth using. Those who buy the game can access eight character avatars for GameChat that track their facial movements. GameChat becomes a lot more fun to use when you and your friends can look like Slippy Toad.

It’s a fun feature that’s unfortunately locked behind a peripheral. Now that the official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera isn’t quite as expensive, it might be worth picking one up and using the Star Fox character avatars yourself.
