Pokémon Unite adds 4 Legendary Pokémon for its 5th anniversary

Pokémon Unite turns five years old in July and The Pokémon Company is celebrating by adding four Legendary Pokémon to the free-to-play MOBA. Yveltal, Palkia, Reshiram, and Solgaleo will be gradually added throughout July and August. Additionally, Regal Style: Pikachu is the big-ticket item from Unite‘s next Battle Pass.

Yveltal, Pokémon Y‘s mascot, will be the first to join on July 3. It will be followed by Palkia, Pokémon Pearl and its remake’s mascot, on July 17. Pokémon Black‘s Reshiram is up next on Aug. 7, and Pokémon Sun‘s Solgaleo will round out the Legendary additions on Aug. 21. You’ll have to participate in their events to get each Legendary Pokémon’s Unite license.

Like many online free-to-play games, Pokémon Unite doles out rewards via Battle Passes. They switch over with the game’s Seasons, which usually last around a month, give or take. Season 43 will begin on July 1 and include Regal Style: Pikachu as a reward, likely only for those who purchase the Premium Pass. Each Season’s Battle Pass features a stylish Pokémon, like Season 18’s Pokébuki Style: Tyranitar or Season 41’s Dryad Style: Espeon.

Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play MOBA. It pits two teams of five players against each other in strategic battles. By defeating wild Pokémon, you’ll level up your chosen Pocket Monster and evolve them over the course of a battle.

Pokémon Unite launched in July 2021 to a mixed reception.
