Release Date Window Set, Cast & Everything We Know So Far

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a streaming service in possession of a global audience must be in want of a Jane Austen adaptation. Netflix has officially debuted the first look at their faithful retelling of Pride and Prejudice, set to arrive in late 2026. Here is everything we know about the series so far, including the newly released teaser trailer.

In a year already described as being “rife with regency drama,” Netflix is preparing to join the “yearn-aissance.” This new adaptation promises to bring the blueprint of romantic comedy back to life for loyal fans, while introducing the sparkle of the Bennet family to a new generation.

The project has been in the works for some time. We were among the first to report that Netflix was developing a Pride and Prejudice adaptation back in October 2024. Since then, we have tracked the development of the British series, leading up to the major casting news that Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden would lead the series.

Now, with a teaser officially out in the wild and production wrapped, here is our full preview of Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice.

When will Pride and Prejudice be released on Netflix?

Netflix has officially confirmed that the series will launch in Autumn 2026 – that covers anywhere from September 22nd through December 21st, 2026. If we had to put money on it, we’d bet somewhere close to Thanksgiving.

Eagle-eyed fans in the UK got an early treat last week, spotting the debut teaser playing on the big screen ahead of theatrical screenings of Wuthering Heights.

Who is behind the new adaptation?

The series is being produced by Lookout Point, a BBC Studios company known for high-quality British drama including Gentleman Jack, Happy Valley, and A Suitable Boy.

The scripts have been penned by Dolly Alderton, best known for Everything I Know About Love. Upon the cast reveal, Alderton shared her excitement about the project:

“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it. Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr Darcy.”

Euros Lyn (Heartstopper, Doctor Who) is directing all episodes.

Executive Producers include Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, alongside Dolly Alderton and Euros Lyn. Emma Corrin also serves as an Executive Producer, marking their debut in the role.

What is the plot?

There are no modern twists or timeline jumps here. Netflix describes the project as a “faithful, classic adaptation” of Jane Austen’s most famous novel.

The series will be a 6-part limited series (with 60-minute episodes) telling the iconic story of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, who must navigate class, family interference, and their own stubborn natures to find love.
