You’ve seen them throwing and catching their way across your social media feed, and now Torontonians will get a chance to see the popular Savannah Bananas when the entertainment-focused baseball team brings its Banana Ball World Tour to Rogers Centre on Aug. 14 and 15, 2027.
The Toronto dates are part of the team’s first international tour. The 2027 schedule will see Banana Ball played in 23 Major League Baseball stadiums and 10 football stadiums across North America.
The Savannah Bananas were founded in 2016 and have garnered a huge following by turning traditional baseball upside down. If you think nine innings of baseball is about as boring as watching paint dry, well, this is the team for you. Known for choreographed dance routines, unconventional plays, outrageous uniforms and plenty of audience participation, the team has attracted a younger generation of fans with its anything-goes approach to the game.
There is a Toronto connection to the team, as well. Ryan Kellogg, a Whitby native who spend a number of seasons in the minors and representing Team Canada on the international stage, serves as left-handed pitcher and pitching coach for the team.
The Banana Ball concept has grown well beyond its original Savannah, Georgia, roots, with the 2027 Championship League tour expected to visit 79 stadiums in 74 cities and draw an estimated 4.3 million fans. Toronto’s Rogers Centre stop will be one of the major Canadian highlights.
