Shay Mitchell Responds to Béis Backlash: 'I Half Agree'

Shay Mitchell’s Béis Weekender bag has gone viral on social media for all the wrong reasons.

The Pretty Little Liars alum — who founded the luxury luggage company in 2018 — responded to backlash her popular carry-all has recently received.

“My team has forced me to read all of the mean things that have been said about the Weekender,” Mitchell said in a TikTok video shared on Friday, July 10. “It’s like my first child. It’s like talking mean about a first child.”

The first comment Mitchell read was shared on December 30, 2025.

“lol the weekender is indeed going to rip your shoulders to shreds if carried by itself,” one critic wrote.

The actress did not disagree with the commenter as she responded, “Absolutely!”

“It is meant to carry quite a bit. However, can I rebut a little bit? If I gave you a plastic bag that was light as a feather and you filled it with bricks, that too would also be heavy,” she explained. “I hear you. And I do agree. You should carry the Weekender, OG and renovated, if you’re going to pack it with bricks, on a carry-on. It will be much easier. So, I half agree.”

She edited the critic’s comment to read, “The weekender will rip your shoulders to shreds if carried it by itself…pack it with bricks and don’t put it on a carry-on roller.”

Mitchell’s response comes with a tease for something big to come.
