The best ways to spend Canada Day in and around Edmonton this year

Still trying to figure out your Canada Day plans? Edmonton has no shortage of events happening throughout the city, whether you’re looking for something family-friendly, a great spot to catch the fireworks or an excuse to spend the day exploring somewhere new. We’ve rounded up some of the best events happening this Canada Day to help you plan your perfect day.

Let’s take a look at what activities will be going on.

The Alberta Railway Museum is celebrating Canada Day with a full day of railway history and hands-on experiences. Visitors can explore historic railway cars, tour the St. Alberta Station and learn more about Alberta’s rail heritage. Grab your family and spend the day exploring, learning, and getting a closer look at Canada’s railway past.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 24215 34th St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost:  Starting at $5.15

The Muttart Conservatory is turning into the Hundred Acre Wood this Canada Day, bringing Winnie-the-Pooh and friends to life inside the pyramids. Expect an afternoon filled with crafts, planting, face painting and fun storybook-style adventures that the whole family can enjoy.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Muttart Conservatory – 9629 96a St. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Included with General Admission (Starting at $12.95)

The Rocky Mountain Icehouse is going all in for Canada Day with a 12-hour DJ-A-THON featuring nonstop music, drink specials and a full party atmosphere from 12 p.m. to midnight. Expect DJs rotating all day long, keeping the vibe fresh whether you show up early or late at night.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Where: 10516 Jasper Ave., Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

If you’re looking for a more elevated way to spend Canada Day, The Butternut Tree is hosting a Coast-to-Coast tasting menu that highlights flavours from across the country. The multi-course experience features ingredients inspired by different regions, from Atlantic seafood and Prairie Bison to Arctic char and Alberta beef, all tied together in a thoughtfully curated dining experience.

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Time: Seating at 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8 p.m.
Where: The Butternut Tree – #101, 9707 110 St. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $159 per person

If you want to end the day on a high note, the City of Edmonton will host a fireworks show launching from Kinsmen Park at 11 p.m. The 18-minute display will stretch across the North Saskatchewan River with plenty of great viewing spots throughout the River Valley, including Queen Elizabeth Park Hill, Victoria Park and Constable Ezio Faraone Park.

Time: 11 p.m.
Where: Best Viewing Locations include: Queen Elizabeth Park, Victoria Park, Constable Ezio Faraone Park
Cost: Free to watch
