While nothing has quite been as big as NBC for cancellations in the 2025–2026 TV season, there have been some shocking and heartbreaking decisions. The CW has brought an end to a terrific era, bringing its final pre-Nexstar show, All American, to an end.
In October 2022, Nexstar acquired The CW, and that was when some major changes happened to the scripted programming. Suddenly, everything we once knew and loved came to an end, starting with the likes of Charmed and The Flash. Then we said goodbye to Nancy Drew and Walker, leaving just All American as the pre-Nexstar drama.
While All American was renewed for an eighth season, which premieres on July 13, 2026, it came with the caveat that it would be the final season.
The CW Cancels ‘All American’ and a Quirky Crime Drama
The good news for fans of the football high school drama is that they get time to say goodbye. The writers were given a chance to bring storylines to a close, whether it’s for the OG characters, such as Jordan and Layla, or if it’s for some of the newer members of the team.
It wasn’t the only cancellation of the 2025–2026 season. The CW also confirmed that Good Cop/Bad Cop would end after just one season. Actor Luke Cook, who played Henry on the series, took to TikTok to share the disappointing news with his fans. The CW never made an official announcement about the cancellation, opting for it to quietly disappear.

Concerns About Other Shows on The CW
Penn & Teller: Fool Us remains on the bubble at the time of writing this. The beloved magic series has been a staple on The CW, and it quickly became a consistent hit in the post-Nexstar days. However, it has remained in limbo since the 11th season came to an end.
Then there’s Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, which does have a third season in Canada and has just been renewed for a fourth. The CW picked up the first two seasons of the Canadian drama, and the second season is slated for fall 2026. However, it’s not clear if the third and fourth seasons will be acquired.
The same applies to Wild Cards, which has been renewed for a fourth season in Canada, with filming starting in March 2026. That series is slated for a winter 2027 premiere on CBC, but The CW has still not officially picked it up. Likewise, Sullivan’s Crossing is in a similar state of limbo on The CW after being renewed for a fifth season north of the border.
