The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (July 14)

14 July 20263 Mins Read

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we can get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

There’s so much going on this week, it’s incredible. From festivals this weekend taking over the city, to small towns nearby with decades of history, there’s so much to uncover.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

Take a trip to pick some berries with friends

In and around Edmonton, you’ll be able to find a bunch of u-pick farms with a variety of berries, fruits, and vegetables. Today, we’re focusing on the beautiful berries this province has to offer. Whether it’s raspberries, haskap berries, or strawberries, your bucket is going to be full by the end of the day.

Most of these farms are outside Edmonton’s city limits, but they’re not too far of a drive.

Cute markets are popping up all around the city

This time, we’re taking it back into the city.

We’ve all been to the farmer’s markets around Edmonton, but these markets only make an appearance once in a blue moon. From coastal vibes to summer celebrations, these themed markets bring only the best vibes into the city. We rounded up some of the best ones in the city for you and your group chat to enjoy.

Grab a drink, get a friend, and it’ll be the perfect afternoon hangout.

And Props and Hops is making another appearance at the Alberta Aviation Museum

Last year, the Alberta Aviation Museum hosted Props and Hops with a game-night theme. There was a live DJ, games to play, drinks to sip, and so much more for you and your friends to take part in. This August, the museum is turning into the ultimate summer camp experience for grown-ups.

Surrounded by historic aircraft, this evening will combine the best parts of camp life and the extraordinary history of aircraft. You’ll be able to experience the museum in an entirely new way, not to mention you’ll be making a ton of new memories with friends, family, or a special loved one.

If you want something coming up soon… you’re in luck

Neon Skies Festival is this weekend! The wait is over, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Neon Skies Festival is Edmonton’s newest pop music festival, being held right in the middle of the city — in ICE District’s Fan Park. This is the festival’s first year, the inaugural two-night party, held this weekend. You can anticipate big names like legendary pop star Kesha and the talented Conan Gray as your headliners… and we personally can’t wait.

However, the chance of showers might make things a bit… damp

According to Weather Canada, this weekend is showing a 60 per cent chance of showers. However, before then, on Thursday, there’s going to be a high of 29°C, which we can enjoy thoroughly. Friday will also see a high of 29°C, but the evening will see the start of the rain.

Hopefully, next week we’ll see a little less water.
