The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (Sept. 8)

8 September 20263 Mins Read

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we can get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

As September is getting into the swing of things, fall is officially beginning in Edmonton. The weather is getting cooler, more autumnal events are hitting the streets, and there is so much to get into this season. We’ve got all the details, though, so let’s jump into all the things you’ll be wanting to catch up on this week.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

Things are cooling down in the city as fall begins

While the weather continues to be a mixed bag, we’re seeing the numbers slowly go down to show us a slightly cooler season.

According to Environment Canada, the high for this upcoming weekend will be 16 degrees Celsius on Saturday, with Friday and Sunday both peaking at 15 degrees Celsius. Though we aren’t going to be heading into the negatives just yet, the low for this week ahead of us will only reach four degrees Celsius.

If you’re looking to make the most of the weekend, Kpop Club Night is making an appearance

Calling all pop fans, you can listen to some of the hottest K-pop hits at this themed club night in Edmonton. This event is being held all around the world, but only this weekend will it be in our own city.

Grab your light-sticks, because this is going to be an evening to celebrate.

Or maybe you’re looking for an activity more suited for the season

Pumpkins After Dark is back for another year of Halloween madness, and this year, it’s rebuilt the experience for the most immersive, memorable, and magical season yet. It’s going to be popping up in the city this month, bringing along “a celebration of all things Halloween with over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins that are built into large pumpkin art installations.”

There’s also an opportunity to take a relaxing day trip just outside the city

Yarrowstead is a new outdoor wellness experience just north of Edmonton, offering a unique atmosphere to rest and relax with its sauna and cold plunge opportunities.

This new experience is giving visitors a chance to escape the bustling noise of the city and reconnect with nature. The facility just opened this year, and it’s already inviting people to walk inside and unwind in its countryside setting with a wood-fired sauna, a gazebo, and more wonderful amenities.

Or maybe you’ll want to take a ride aboard the riverboat before the season’s over

The Edmonton Riverboat has been offering rides along the North Saskatchewan River through the warmer seasons in the city for over 30 years. To this day, it continues to be a delight for both residents and those coming in from out of town.

It only operates between May and September (occasionally October, depending on the weather), so take a trip while you still can!
