Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander, as well as John Goodman, will appear in The Last of Us season 3
The Last of Us season 3 has added more actors to its cast in celebration of The Last of Us Day. While John Goodman’s casting will certainly turn heads, fans of the games will be happy to learn that Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander will also show up next season as brand-new characters.
Who was cast in The Last of Us Season 3?
Naughty Dog celebrates Sept. 26 as The Last of Us Day, as that’s the day the Cordyceps outbreak happened in-universe. We usually get a bit of franchise-related news on this day. This year, HBO took the chance to announce that John Goodman, Ian Alexander, and Laura Bailey have been cast in The Last of Us season 3, which Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann isn’t involved in making.
Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander both starred in The Last of Us Part 2, portraying Abby and Lev, respectively. While the show tends not to cast the games’ actors in the same roles, it has found different characters for people like Troy Baker to play. Bailey even had a small cameo in the finale of The Last of Us season 1 as one of the nurses attempting to operate on Ellie.
Now, it’s giving Bailey and Alexander bigger roles as characters original to the adaptation. Bailey will play Elizabeth, who a press release describes as one of the Seraphites’ leaders. Meanwhile, John Goodman and Ian Alexander will portray Joey and Paco, a pair of characters who call themselves the Heroes of the Highway. It’s still unknown how many episodes Goodman, Bailey, and Alexander will appear in as these new characters.
The Last of Us season 3 will air on HBO sometime in 2027. Naughty Dog is saving its The Last of Us Day announcements for Sept. 28; meanwhile, the studio’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, still has no release window.
