‘The Night Agent’ Officially Renewed for Season 4 at Netflix

Action has been taken! In a move that comes as a slight surprise, given the show’s drop in viewership season over season, Netflix has officially pulled the trigger on a fourth season of The Night Agent.

The renewal comes just two weeks after the premiere of Season 3 (February 19th, 2026). While Netflix brass reportedly waited to see how the first “post-Rose” season would perform before signing on the dotted line, Peter Sutherland has proven once again that he is the streamer’s most reliable asset.

Here is everything we know about The Night Agent Season 4 on Netflix, including production shifts, viewership data, and what to expect from the story.

Has The Night Agent been renewed for Season 4?

Official Renewal Status: Renewed (as of March 6th, 2026)

The Night Agent Season 4: Has Netflix Renewed Yet? Viewership Update & What To Expect

Netflix officially confirmed the renewal on March 6th, following a “nice bump” in Season 3’s second-week viewership. Series creator Shawn Ryan shared his excitement, stating:

“It’s been a wild ride filming The Night Agent in five countries across three continents to this point and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into Season 4. Our writers, our cast and our crew stand ready to answer the call to bring our incredible fans even more twists, turns and thrills.”

The renewal follows a “quiet” pick-up of a writers’ room back in 2025, allowing the team to get a head start on scripts while waiting for the official green light. The renewal came alongside a video of a marketing stunt held in Times Square in New York with Gabriel Basso confirming that the show will returning, saying, “Thank you for making The Night Agent season 4 a reality, we could not have done it without every single one of you.”

Production is moving to Los Angeles

In a major shift for the series, Season 4 will be filmed in Los Angeles. After Season 1 was filmed in Canada and Seasons 2 and 3 spent significant time in New York and various international hubs (including Thailand, Türkiye, and the Dominican Republic), the production is heading west.

This move is fueled by a massive $31.6 million tax credit granted to Sony Pictures TV to relocate the show, which was revealed late last year. Per the terms of that credit, production must begin within a six-month window, meaning we expect cameras to start rolling by late May 2026, though recent production schedules have suggested only a broad Q2 2026 start.

How well is The Night Agent performing on Netflix?

There was some early “softness” in the Season 3 numbers that had fans (and analysts) worried that the show may be heading towards the end, but thankfully, not a cancellation.

  • Week 1: Season 3 debuted at No. 2 with 8.4 million views. This was a significant drop from Season 2’s 13.9 million opening and Season 1’s massive 21 million debut.

  • Week 2: The series saw a slight rebound, growing to 9.9 million views. This jump also pushed Season 1 and Season 2 back into the Global Top 10 (at No. 5 and No. 8, respectively), but Season 3 remains down 60% on Season 1 and around 40% on Season 2.

What to expect from The Night Agent Season 4

Showrunner Shawn Ryan has already begun dropping breadcrumbs about what’s next for Peter Sutherland. Here are the key plot points we’re tracking:

  • A New Partner: Following his request for a partner in the Season 3 finale, Agent Mosley (Albert Jones) teased a candidate. Ryan has confirmed Peter’s new partner will be a “new character that we’ve never met before.”

  • The LA Setting: Don’t expect a Hollywood-centric story. Ryan says the season will explore a world present in the Los Angeles region that exists at a “much bigger level than New York,” but it isn’t the film industry.

  • The Night Action Program: After seasons of playing by the rules (mostly), Season 4 will reportedly question the justification of the Night Action program itself.

  • Returning Faces: While Peter’s missions usually swap out the supporting cast, Ryan confirmed that other Season 3 characters will return alongside Gabriel Basso.

  • Staying Stateside (For Now): Breaking the tradition of the last two seasons, there are currently no international locations planned for the start of Season 4.

When will Season 4 be on Netflix?

Given the late Q2 2026 filming start, a typical production and post-production cycle suggests a mid-to-late 2027 release window.
