The spring/summer 2027 fashion presentations have come and gone, leaving us with fresh ideas for warm-weather dressing.

While there’s still a fall and winter season to get through before the collections hit stores, those who are inspired and eager can get ahead by incorporating some of spring’s standout trends into their autumn wardrobes.

Notably, this season saw a return to maximalism, kick-started by Matthieu Blazy’s new look at Chanel. Even some of the most tried-and-true minimalist brands such as The Row dialled up the ornamentation on their usual unadorned aesthetic.

Here’s how to wear spring’s most interesting looks now.

Colour extravaganza

Building on the last two seasons of colourful statement pieces, the spring runways saw a resplendent takeover.

Colour palettes felt new and fresh, such as a mint green bomber jacket layered with a magenta shirt and paired with the palest pink pants at Balenciaga. Recreate the look with a beet wool blazer from Smythe, a Uniqlo mint cashmere sweater and a pair of salmon-coloured denim pants from Frame.

For statement-makers, the boldest colours are leading the charge, with head-to-toe red at Celine, purple at Tory Burch, cobalt blue at Proenza Schouler and yellow at Hermès. Adding a pop of colourful knitwear is a great place to start: Massimo Dutti’s yellow cashmere sweater and Kotn’s sheer alpaca knit cardigan are both good choices. To fully embrace the trend, you can’t go wrong with a bright yellow Canada Goose parka.

The return of the peplum

Every couple of decades, a version of the peplum reappears.

There was the classic nipped-in silhouette of the forties, the voluminous multilayered tiers of eighties, and the quick and casual revisit in the 2010s. Now, in 2026, the peplum has emerged once again, with brands such as Ashlyn quietly working on a modern, updated version over the last few seasons.

Ashlyn’s peplum is softer, often the star detail of streamlined dresses and skirts such as the brand’s Mara ruffle skirt. A similar style is Michelle Del Rio’s Soledad skirt with its fringed edge and drawstring tie.

Givenchy showed little structured satin jackets with peplums protruding at the waist and styled with denim. Eliza Faulkner’s analogous Elsa top looks equally as good with denim as it does with a matching trouser.

Poster Girl

Julian Klausner, creative director of Dries Van Noten, is having such a blast mixing prints and colours that you’d be forgiven for forgetting minimalism ever existed.

For spring, Klausner showcased an array of prints and illustrations, including vintage movie posters he designed and printed onto trench coats and dresses.

Add an artful touch to your fall wardrobe with Tory Burch’s printed denim barn jacket or Canadian brand KSLAM’s reinterpreted camouflage skirt set.

At Acne Studios, Renaissance and 17th-century paintings were printed directly on to denim and jackets, styled with cameo portrait pins. Try something similar with Desigual’s painterly printed knit.

The skirt

It’s official: Miuccia Prada has declared spring 2027 the season of the skirt.

Prada sent out a parade of statement skirts worn primarily with simple tees, sweaters and bra tops.

They came pleated, embellished and wrapped around the waist with a slit. They were sheer, satin, printed and topped with bows.

For a Prada-esque look, try Wanze’s belted pencil skirt in red, grey or brown check, perfectly suited to fall or early spring.

Or look to Beaufille’s lace trimmed skirt, which is versatile for all seasons. Even occasion dressing can enjoy a skirt moment with Julia Heuer’s hand pleated floor length number.

Waist not

Call it the Celine effect, but there seems to be a direct correlation between the rise in accessory styling and creative director Michael Rider’s tenure at the brand.

If there’s one accessory to buy now that will take you into spring, it’s a statement belt or two. This season, Celine sent out oversized belts with gargantuan buckles that cinched at the waist on two all-black ensembles. Imitate the look with Isabel Marant’s black Holis belt, or try Brave Leather’s bold plaque leather version.

For evening, the cummerbund has entered the chat, as seen at Kallmeyer and Conner Ives. Your best bet for a truly unique style that won’t break the bank is to look for a handmade or vintage version on Etsy or Poshmark.
