There’s a wood-fired sauna and cold bucket plunge at this new wellness spot near Edmonton

4 September 20263 Mins Read

Yarrowstead is a new outdoor wellness experience just north of Edmonton, offering a unique atmosphere to rest and relax with its sauna and cold plunge opportunities.

This new experience is giving visitors a chance to escape the bustling noise of the city and reconnect with nature. The facility just opened this year, and it’s already inviting people to walk inside and unwind in its countryside setting. We’ve got all the information to know before taking a plunge, so let’s jump straight into it.

What to know about Yarrowstead before arriving

When is Yarrowstead open and where is it located?

Yarrowstead is open daily from 4 to 8 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 8 p.m. on weekends (with specific available sessions throughout its opening hours).

You’ll be able to find the experience north of Edmonton in Sturgeon County.

What do I need to bring?

The packing checklist for visitors includes a bathing suit and water bottle. A bathrobe, towel, and slippers will be provided for guests at the facility.

What do Yarrowstead’s facilities include?

As an outdoor wellness facility, Yarrowstead offers:

  • A wood-fired sauna
  • A cold water splash bucket
  • A cedar deck with an orchard view
  • A private hybrid gazebo
  • Heated changerooms
  • On-site washrooms

What’s the suggested wellness cycle?

According to Yarrowstead, a great way to get started is by moving between the three steps: heat (in the sauna for 10 to 20 minutes), cold (by the splash), and rest (by the firepit for 10 to 20 minutes).

The facility reminds guests that they are welcome to adjust this cycle, as starting with the cold or just enjoying the sauna is perfectly fine.

How long does a session last?

Community sessions last around one hour and 45 minutes, while private sessions last the full two hours.

How much is each session?

Tickets for community sessions at Yarrowstead are available online and will cost $40 plus tax and fees, while private sessions for up to 12 people will cost $300 plus tax and fees. Those interested are also able to rent the space itself for their own unforgettable experience, with inquiries being taken online.

Is there parking available on-site?

According to Yarrowstead, there is easy parking available at the facility.

When: Monday to Sunday
Time: 4 to 8 p.m. from Monday through Friday; Noon to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays
