These free buses will take you on an art crawl across downtown Edmonton

6 March 20262 Mins Read

Hop aboard the ArtBus!

ArtBus is a free, all-ages, one-day event in Edmonton that focuses on taking riders across downtown Edmonton and the art galleries within it. Participants will ride to these centres on special ETS buses, decorated from bottom to top with gorgeous designs.

On March 21, you can hop on at any designated Art Stop across downtown Edmonton to look at wonderful art, get creative yourself with hands-on activities, and shop local.

What to expect

These ETS ArtBuses will be running in a continuous loop between nine participating galleries downtown. There will be three chartered ETS ArtBuses running the route from noon to 5 p.m., picking up and dropping off participants at each Art Stop, free of charge.

The list of participating galleries is as follows:

  • Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts
  • Alberta Craft Council
  • Art Gallery of Alberta
  • Edmonton Arts Council Shop
  • Harcourt House Artist Run Centre
  • Mitchell Art Gallery
  • kisîhtoskâtonaw
  • SNAP Gallery
  • Wâwâhtêwa Art Gallery (Boyle Street Community Services)

On board the ArtBus, you can speak to a friendly volunteer and ask for an ArtBus sticker. This sticker will allow you to receive free admission to the galleries as well as discounts on participating shops and restaurants. Here, you can also grab a copy of the Edmonton Downtown Gallery Map. This lists the galleries and artist-run centers across Edmonton’s downtown.

Each art gallery and participating location has its own activities, whether it be an interactive art collage, felt pin making, a smudge table, or something entirely different. There are so many things to do, and they are all at your fingertips.

Get ready for this amazing art journey coming soon!
