This glowing lantern parade in Edmonton is holding its 10th anniversary

16 March 20262 Mins Read

A lantern parade is coming to Edmonton this weekend.

Co*Lab, a grassroots arts organization, has been holding Glow for 10 years now. Since competing with other Glow events in the city, this year, Co*Lab has decided to rename the event “March.” This double entandra for a parade currently has no other Edmonton event under the same name.

For the event itself, you can head on over to Co*Lab on Saturday, March 21, for the parade of the year.

What to expect

The 21st will have loads of excitement to go around. Whether you’re showing up early for the workshop or making it just in time for the march itself, you’re guaranteed to have a great time.

Earlier this month, as well as in February, the organization was holding weekly open play workshops for $5. Here, you could explore its materials, try playful new techniques, and learn the craft of lantern making. There will also be a free mini workshop on the day of the parade from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

For the lantern parade itself, you can expect to see the glowing spectacles from 8 to 9 p.m., flooding the streets with beautiful art. To add to that, there will be performances from 9 p.m. to late to conclude the night in the best way.

If you want to contribute to this parade, the best way will be by donating old phone cables! Yes, you heard me right, broken charging cables are perfect for connecting strip lights to battery packs, which helps immensely during construction. You can contact the team at @colabyeg on Instagram to schedule a drop-off that works for you.

Looking forward to this parade? I sure am, so get your coat wrapped around you and your boots slipped on, because this weekend can’t come soon enough!

When: Saturday, March 21, 2026
Time: 5 p.m. to late
Where: 9641 102A Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free
