Pumpkins After Dark is back for another year of Halloween madness, and this year, it’s rebuilt the experience for the most immersive, memorable, and magical season yet.
According to the event, Pumpkins After Dark is one of Canada’s award-winning outdoor Halloween experiences, transforming magical fall nights into mystical memories with friends and family.

When and where is Pumpkins After Dark?
Pumpkins After Dark is coming to Borden Park in Edmonton from Friday, Sept. 25, to Saturday, Oct. 31. The exact event hours will depend on your ticket date.
What is there to do at the event?
According to Pumpkins After Dark, this event is “a celebration of all things Halloween with over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins that are built into large pumpkin art installations.” Here, you can:
- Watch live pumpkin carving demonstrations
- Enjoy live entertainment
- Eat from food trucks
- Take a picture at one of the photo ops
- Go through a maze
- Walk through the (roughly) one-kilometre pathway with illuminated displays
Is there food or drink available for purchase?
There is popcorn (as well as apparel) available for purchase online when you get your tickets. You’ll be able to pick up your pre-purchased items at the Box Office when you receive your admission tickets at the event.
There will also be food trucks located inside the event, with a selection of snacks including hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, coffee, lattes, and more.
Are the pumpkins real?
The event uses a combination of synthetic and organic pumpkins throughout the displays. According to the event, they’ve taken years to perfect a synthetic pumpkin recipe, allowing them to carve and create pumpkins that will last and perform just like the organic ones.
Although some pumpkins may be synthetic, every pumpkin is hand-carved by Canadian artists, using 2D and 3D techniques.
What ages is this event targeted towards?
This is an all-ages event, and while there may be some spooky displays or effects, there will be no jump scares anywhere during the experience.
For those with small children, according to the event, the park is stroller-friendly. The pumpkin pathway is mostly paved; however, there are some areas with inclines, declines, and uneven, soft-surface terrain.
What is the event’s weather policy?
According to Pumpkins After Dark, the experience will operate rain, shine, or snow.
In the event of extreme weather conditions, a new event date will be provided, with all correspondence sent to the email the tickets were purchased under.
Is there parking available?
Parking will be available nearby at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Pricing is $16.50, and guests can book their spot in advance online.
How much are tickets?
Tickets are on sale online now and vary depending on the date you’re looking at. General admission tickets start around $14, while VIP tickets are $47.33 with taxes and fees.
Regular general admission tickets will allow you entry on the date and time you choose, while VIP tickets give you the opportunity to enter any time during your selected date and include one maze pass, a Monsters in 3D experience pass, and one merchandise item priced up to $20.
