This Toronto museum is going full Western with a cowboy boot exhibit and live band

11 March 20262 Mins Read

Cowboy boots are about to have a main-character moment at The Bata Shoe Museum. And to celebrate the occasion, the Toronto museum is throwing an iconic party with a live band.

Later this month, Toronto’s Bata Shoe Museum will celebrate the exhibition publication launch of Rough and Ready: A History of Cowboy Boots.

“The iconic Toronto fashion historian and Bata Shoe Museum director Elizabeth Semmelheck’s stylish deep dive into Western footwear traces the journey of cowboy boots from the early cattle trails to contemporary fashion runways,” shares the museum.

“With engaging stories, exclusive interviews, and rich archival imagery, Semmelhack reveals how cowboy boots evolved through five eras, capturing the spirit, myth, and runway-ready revival of this iconic footwear.”

Its release actually coincides with the exhibit of the same name that opened back in May 2025. It’s honouring its 30th anniversary and will be at the museum until September 2026.

On Friday, March 27, 2026, Juno Award-winning country rock group The Sadies will bring the western vibes to the museum, and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun.

Tickets are available and start at $30 for general admission.

If you’d love to get your hands on a copy of the book, signed by the Canadian designer Hayley Elsaesser, this is priced at $90. It includes admission and one drink. It’s a 19+ event.

Get your tickets ASAP!

When: Friday, March 27, 2026
Time:
7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Where: Bata Shoe Museum, 327 Bloor St. W.
Cost: $30+
