Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie just announced a major career update—hosting a new game show called Wordle.
On Monday, May 11, Jimmy Fallon, an executive producer for the upcoming word puzzle series, appeared as a guest on Today to help announce the big news.

Wordle will see contestants competing for money as they play the game, inspired by the popular New York Times daily word puzzle. Although a premiere date has not yet been announced, filming for the show will begin this summer, per Today.com.
On Today, Guthrie took the opportunity to share a heartfelt thanks to Fallon and the rest of the production team for pausing after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her Tucson, Ariz., home on Feb. 1.
“When everything happened with me and my family, they just stopped everything and said, ‘We’ll wait for you,'” she explained. Guthrie then turned to Fallon, adding, “And Hollywood is, like, a really tough business, as you know. And I didn’t expect that. And I just want to say thank you. It means so much to me.”
To that, Fallon pointed out, “We can’t do it without you… You are fantastic. You were so good. You’re funny.”

In a clip of the Wordle announcement shared via Today‘s Instagram grid, fans rejoiced over Guthrie’s exciting career news. One fan declared, “Your mom is so proud of you, Savannah! She is smiling and so proud of your strength and resilience! God bless you! You are my inspiration.”
Another follower shared, “She is amazing and deserves all the best. I admire her strength, and you got to keep busy to occupy your mind. Plus, to show resilience and that ‘they’ have not won. You can feel her voice breaking, and it’s not easy. She isn’t fake, she is strong.🙌👏❤️.”
