As Broadway stars prepare for the 79th Annual Tony Awards on June 7, the nominees will be announced next Tuesday by two Broadway icons.
Tony Award winner Darren Criss and Tony Award nominee Uzo Aduba will be announcing the nominations live from Softiel New York on May 5 at 9 a.m./ET. A selection of the categories will be revealed early on CBS Mornings at 8:30 a.m./ET.
Criss is currently on Broadway, starring as Oliver in Maybe Happy Ending, from now until May 17. The show is running at the Belasco Theatre alongside Claire Kwon, who plays Claire.
Maybe Happy Ending follows two obsolete robots who live in Seoul. As the two form a meaningful connection, they embark on a journey to Jeju Island. The show won nine Tony Awards in 2025, and was called “one of the most visually stunning shows to hit New York in ages” by USA Today.
Aduba is known for her starring role in 2021’s Clyde’s. The show opened at the Helen Hayes Theater, following a formerly incarcerated kitchen staff working at a truck stop diner. In 2022, Aduba was nominated for a Tony Award as Best Featured Actress.
Fans quickly took to The Tony Awards’ Instagram comment section to express excitement for the announcement hosts.
