The Fredericksburg City Council approved a resolution revising the conceptual alignment of a future roadway contemplated in the city’s Comprehensive Plan for the Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country development.
The revised alignment integrates with the resort and residences master plan while preserving the city’s long-term transportation objectives. The resolution provides a path for continued development planning and the project’s future relationship with the city.
Site work is underway at the property, while infrastructure, design and construction planning continue.
Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country is planned less than one mile from downtown Fredericksburg and is expected to mark the first Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts location in Texas.
Plans call for a resort and residences arranged in a clustered, ranch-style layout across open green spaces and oak woodlands. Paul Duesing Partners is responsible for the project’s architecture and interiors.
The development is planned to include a spa facility, wellness offerings, resort pools, culinary venues led by a Michelin-starred chef and event venues.
With the roadway framework defined, the development team and the city can continue work toward a voluntary annexation and development agreement for the property, establishing the project’s long-term relationship with Fredericksburg.
The project is expected to generate new tax revenues, jobs, visitor spending and patronage for local restaurants, wineries, galleries, shops and other businesses throughout the year.
The project is planned for a 2029 debut.
