What To Expect From Return for Netflix’s Only Punjabi Series

Netflix India has a solid collection of Original crime thriller series in its catalogue, but only one of them is in Punjabi. The police procedural drama Kohrra debuted in 2023. The first season follows the cops from Jagrana station — including Assistant sub-inspector Amarpal Garundi (Barun Sobti) — as they try to solve the murder of a groom killed days before his wedding. The first season was nominated for nine Filmfare OTT Awards in 2023 and won five, including Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Sobti.

Season 2 finds Assistant Sub-Inspector Garundi at a new station with a new commanding officer, played by Mona Singh. For Singh, this marks her first time in an action role. She said: “It’s been a very beautiful, satisfying, and challenging journey for me.”

The new season is produced by A Film Squad Productions in Association with Act Three, with Manuj Mittra,Tina Tharwani, Saurabh Malhotra, and Sudip Sharma the individual producers responsible. Sonchiriya-scribe Sharma — who co-created and co-wrote the series with Gunjit Chopra and Diggi Sisodia — shares directorial duties with Faisal Rahman (Three of Us).

What is the plot of Kohrra Season 2?

Here’s how Netflix describes the new season, courtesy of their Next on Netflix descriptions for new Indian titles coming in 2026:

“A woman separated from her husband is found brutally murdered in her brother’s home, and the case brings together the recently transferred Garundi with his new boss, the no-nonsense Dhanwant Kaur. But the two investigators soon realise that what’s as complicated as the case are the entanglements in their own personal lives.”

The team behind Kohrra says, “With Kohrra Season 2, we wanted to build on the world we introduced earlier while pushing the narrative into more layered and emotionally complex territory. The new chapter delves deeper into fractured relationships, buried truths and the quiet tensions that shape the investigation. Reuniting with Netflix has given us the space to expand the series with greater scale and nuance, and we’re excited to bring this next chapter of Kohrra to audiences around the world.”

Who is cast in Kohrra Season 2?

Barun Sobti (Asur) returns as ASI Amarpal Garundi.

Mona Singh (Kaala Paani) plays Inspector Dhanwant Kaur.

Other cast members include:

  • Rannvijay Singha (Mismatched)
  • Pooja Bhamrrah (The Fame Game)
  • Anuraag Arora (Amar Singh Chamkila)
  • Prayrak Mehta (Black Warrant)
