Spring is here and the month of April is anchored by high-stakes finales and star-studded premieres. The standout event is undoubtedly on Prime Video, where The Boys returns for its fifth and final season.

Netflix keeps the momentum high with the much-anticipated second season of BEEF, featuring Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaney; as well as the survival thriller Apex starring Charlize Theron.

For those craving drama and nostalgia, Running Point returns for season two; there’s also a Laguna Beach reunion landing exclusively on Roku devices in Canada (we recommend the new Roku Plus Series 55″ 4K HDR QLED Mini-LED Roku Smart TV for the best viewing experience).

Why watch: The storyline is just as exciting as the K-drama inspired past two seasons, and each of the characters in the friend group is given more screen time, giving this an ensemble feel.

Series: BEEF Season 2
Air date: April 16
Synopsis: While working at a fancy country club, two young employees (Charles Melton, Cailee Spaeny) film a fight between their boss and his wife (Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan), which sets off a blackmailing scandal that only gets deeper and chaotic.
Why watch: Creator Lee Sung Jin is back for season two and after the wonderfully written first season on road rage, the stakes are much higher this season with an ensemble cast that makes every episode a nail-biter.

Series: Running Point Season 2
Air date: April 23
Synopsis: With the championship in sight, Isla (Kate Hudson) realizes there’s more on the line as she has to use her wits to win over the locker room and the boardroom.
Why watch: If season one was a win, it was because of the writers room, the showrunner and the cast that made it an enjoyable watch. Season two runs on that same energy, continuing to be edgier, sharper and funnier.

Film: Apex 
Air date: April 24
Synopsis: A grieving woman (Charlie Theron) embarks on a solo adventure in the Australian wilderness only to come face to face with a killer who preys on her while she’s out on her own.
Why watch: This one sounds like it has all the ingredients of a survival thriller, and with bad-ass star Theron leading the way, we know it’ll be one to watch.

Why watch: It’s going to be a finale worth watching as the show comes to a close, and we know it’s going to end on a high note.

Air date: April 23
Synopsis: The Oscar-nominated performance of Timothee Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects who goes the mile to prove himself as the best table tennis player.
Why watch: If you still haven’t seen the Chalamet performance that had everyone talking, critics and audiences alike, now’s your chance.

Film: Song Sung Blue
Air date: April 30
Synopsis: Two down-on-their-luck performers (Hugh Jackman, Kate Hudson) form a Neil Diamond tribute band, as they embark on a journey to follow their dreams and find love along the way.
Why watch: Kate Hudson was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for her role in this flick inspired by a true story.

Series: The Testaments

Synopsis: The Testaments takes place years after the conclusion of The Handmaid’s Tale. The series, which filmed in Toronto, follows young teens Agnes (Chase Infinity), and Daisy (Lucy Halliday) as they navigate the halls of Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school for future wives.
Based on: Margaret Atwood’s 2020 novel of the same name
Why watch: Whether you watched The Handmaid’s Tale or not, this series offers a fresh look at the universe that Atwood created, and appeals to the new generation. Infiniti and Halliday really carry the scenes, as do the other actors that round up the supporting cast.

Series: Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair
Air date: April 10
Synopsis: After shielding himself and his daughter from his family for over a decade, Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) is dragged back into his parents’ orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party.
Why watch: The series reunites the OG cast and we’re tuning in for that.

Series: Euphoria Season 3

Synopsis: Taking place five years after the events of season two, Euphoria picks up with the return of series regulars Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Eric Dane and Maude Apatow. Season three follows the group of childhood friends as they wrestle with more issues, including faith, redemption and evil.
Why watch: If you have been following the storyline so far, you’ll know that the conclusion of this high-stakes drama is sure to be a must-watch. It’s also one of Eric Dane’s final roles before his recent passing.
