When the Final Season Streams Where You Live

On our screens for the past ten years, Outlander will go down in the history books as one of the best historical fantasy series of all time. In March 2026, the series is finally returning for its eighth and final season, but when will it be streaming on Netflix? The answer depends on where you live. Here’s the full Netflix release schedule for Outlander season 8.

The fantasy period drama series, which has now been a part of Netflix’s library for much of the show’s lifetime, continues to be a major draw for viewership for Netflix. According to the Netflix Engagement Reports, the series’s seven seasons clocked up 1.2B hours watched between 2023 and 2025, equating to a whopping 100.9M viewing equivalents.

After previewing the new season at San Diego Comic-Con with a teaser trailer last year, Starz officially set a firm release date: season 8 will premiere in the US on March 6, 2026. The final 10 episodes will be adapting both Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone and A Blessing For A Warrior, which are the ninth and tenth novels in the series by Diana Gabaldon.

The official description for the final set of episodes reads, “As Season 8 begins, Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.”

Outlander Season 8 Will Drop Weekly in Select International Territories And Much Later Elsewhere…

Most international territories outside of the United States (excluding the UK, notably, where it streams on MGM+) carry Outlander in some form or another. Those who will be getting season 8 weekly beginning March 7, 2026 (including Netflix France, which is confirmed to be getting the series weekly from March 7th onwards on Twitter) include:

  • Belgium
  • France
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Japan
  • Malaysia
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • Switzerland
  • South Korea

For other territories, such as the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, and Sweden, you’ll have to wait until around a year after the season wraps up and local broadcasters exhaust their exclusive window. With the 10-episode final season expected to end its run in May 2026, that means the series won’t drop on Netflix in these regions until sometime in mid-to-late 2027.

When will Netflix US stream season 8 of Outlander?

The United States, much like all prior seasons, will have the longest wait for a new season of Outlander, sadly. As we’ve covered many times before, Netflix’s deal for the show is with Sony Pictures Television, which can only license to Netflix in the US after an exclusivity period with Starz.

That period has been two years after the finale airs. That’s most recently been the case for season 7 of Outlander, which saw the first eight episodes of its 16-episode season touch down on August 11th, 2025, exactly two years after the mid-season finale aired.

That means the next batch of Outlander episodes won’t be touching down on Netflix US until early 2027, with the remaining eight episodes of season 7 dropping on January 17th, 2027.

What about season 8? That wait is even longer. With the final season premiering on March 6, 2026, and the 10-episode run expected to wrap up by May 2026, you won’t be seeing those 10 episodes landing on Netflix in the US until May 2028. Yes, over two years away from the publication of this article.

If you want to watch the new episodes as soon as they land, you’ll need Starz or wait for the physical or VOD drop.

Are any of the Outlander spin-offs on Netflix?

Of course, while the main Outlander series is coming to an end, the franchise, as it were, is continuing on primarily in the form of the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The spin-off successfully premiered its 10-episode first season on Starz in August 2025 and has already been renewed for season 2.

For the moment at least, it doesn’t look like the prequel series will be heading to Netflix anytime soon, with most streaming rights snapped up by other providers. We could see the show land on Netflix in a few years, with Sony Pictures Television also behind this spin-off, but there’s no guarantee – we’ll keep you posted if anything changes.
