Whitbread Begins Construction of Premier Inn at Sandyford Business Park in Outer Dublin

Whitbread PLC has started construction of its first Premier Inn hotel in Outer Dublin at Sandyford Business Park, D18. The eight-storey property on Arkle Road will feature 157 bedrooms, including the brand’s latest format and Premier Plus rooms, along with updated ground floor spaces. Galway-based Monami Construction has been appointed to lead the build, which is expected to take approximately 18 months.

Whitbread acquired the long-lease interest for the site in December 2023 and received planning permission from Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council in May 2025. The hotel is scheduled to open in Spring 2028.

Upon opening, the Sandyford Premier Inn will be the ninth Premier Inn hotel in Ireland. Whitbread is targeting four additional Outer Dublin locations as part of its plan to reach a 5,000-bedroom network across Ireland.

Whitbread selected Sandyford Business Park for its first Outer Dublin hotel due to the area’s international occupier base and strong transport links. The company currently operates six Premier Inn hotels in Dublin and Cork, with five more under construction in Ireland.

The Sandyford Premier Inn marks Monami Construction’s first project for Whitbread in Ireland. The company has previously delivered hotel developments for other operators in Ireland and abroad.

Whitbread is also seeking locations for Premier Inn hotels in Dublin City Centre, including Connolly Station, Docklands South, Heuston Station, and across D2. In Outer Dublin, it is searching for sites in Blanchardstown, Ballsbridge, Dun Laoghaire, and Malahide. Nationwide, potential locations include Galway, Kilkenny, Killarney, Kinsale, Limerick, Sligo, Tralee, Waterford, Westport, and Wexford.
