Who Got Voted Off ‘Survivor 50’ Tonight? Plus, MrBeast’s Shocking Twist Explained

29 April 20266 Mins Read

Since we saw the Survivor 50 trailer last December, there’s been one particular question that’s been lingering on the minds of fans for the past four months. Why is MrBeast in Fiji, and what does he have in that briefcase? Finally, in this week’s episode, the mystery was resolved, as the legendary YouTuber crashed this season’s auction with an enigmatic offer no one could refuse. But the mere fear of the unknown got these group of returning players spun around, producing the most chaotic afternoon of the game to date. And that pandemonium spilled into the evening, as the fires of Tribal Council had one particular player feeling the heat, as they made one decision that would change their fate — and the game — forever.

Here’s our spoiler-filled recap of tonight’s episode of Survivor 50, including who went home and the new advantage MrBeast brought into the game.

Who got voted off on Survivor 50 tonight?

Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick on ‘Survivor 50’

Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick

Sixteen years have passed since Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick last played Survivor. And the Palau standout was adamant to show that becoming one of the most popular players of all time in her first season was not her reality TV zenith. Unfortunately, the woman who was once labeled as a “Survivor jinx” was having some big strokes of bad luck the first half of the season, as the majority alliance she had formed on her initial tribe was all taken out in a variety of circumstances.

Luckily, Stephenie was able to adapt, finding a new haven among some of the more old-school-minded players like Jonathan Young and Joe Hunter. But a large reason why Stephenie was done in actually lies at the feet of the old-schooler she was most familiar with coming in: Cirie Fields. After playing Snake in the Grass and Traitors together, the six-time player could easily clock whenever Stephenie was lying. So when she attempted to go to Cirie, claiming that her number one Ozzy Lusth was on the chopping block, Cirie turned her sights on Stephenie for not being faithful.

It also didn’t help that Rick Devens blew up Tribal Council in the first few seconds, calling out that Jonathan and Stephenie were conspiring to get out Ozzy. Even more havoc ensued when the “MrBeast Super Beware Advantage” caused any plans against Rick to scuttle. But whether a flip of a coin had anything to do with Stephenie’s departure, her fate was as sealed as a briefcase. And, while this was the third time she had been voted out across nearly 100 days of playing Survivor, she surprisingly said this one hurt the most.

Were any idols or advantages found or played on Survivor 50 tonight?

Oh, absolutely! Rick was the first-ever recipient of the “MrBeast Super Beware Advantage,” which we’ll get into below. And, in a moment of desperation, Stephenie chose to play the “Steal-a-Vote” she received on a journey. While she was able to grab Rick’s vote, it was ultimately for naught, as everyone else voted against her.

What is MrBeast’s Survivor twist?

MrBeast first showed up in this week’s Survivor episode at the end of the auction. As a consequence for paying for the “comfort” of letters from home, the cast would receive “chaos” in the form of a new twist the YouTuber would unleash on the game that night. At a certain point during the Tribal Council proceedings, Jeff Probst brought in MrBeast, who finally opened the briefcase he had been holding onto the whole day…and it contained quite the prize.

The “MrBeast Super Beware Advantage” was comprised of one simple coin flip that a player would do. If they correctly called what the coin would land on, they would earn three rewards. They would not only be safe from Tribal Council, but they’d also earn an idol they could use in a future round. But arguably the biggest thing worth playing for: The prize money would double to a whopping $2 million. However, if the person failed to call their shot, the pot would remain at $1 million. And they absolutely would not be winning safety, as it would culminate in them getting automatically eliminated from the game, without a vote even occurring.

Feeling on the bottom, and embodying his wife’s words to “embrace the spirit of playfulness,” he chose to put his fate into his own hands by flipping the coin. And, astoundingly, the 50/50 chance paid off handsomely! Rick won the coin toss, giving him both much-needed immunity and an idol. And, no matter how they felt about him in that moment, everyone patted him on the back for being responsible for doubling the prize pot, something that has only been done once before in Survivor history.

The auction returns…again!

Over the past decade, the Survivor auction has essentially been a relic. While we’ve seen the old-school staple come back a couple of times in Seasons 45 and 47, it says something that only four of the remaining ten players have ever actually participated in an auction during their time on the show. But everyone was happily surprised to come around the corner on Day 19 and see a very familiar gavel.

Unlike recent instances of the auction, this time had no “new era” bells and whistles attached. Nobody was forced to spend all of their money, and nobody suffered the consequences of losing a vote. There weren’t even any advantages that were up for grabs. Instead, players and fans alike were in for a classic Survivor auction, full of plenty of foods for the starving competitors to gorge themselves on.

Perhaps the biggest twist to the auction came in this “comfort vs. chaos” theme that Probst teased from the beginning. A couple of items involved two people performing an uncomfortable task to earn their prize. For instance, Aubry Bracco had to down two grubs in two minutes to earn cookies and milk for her and Rizo Velovic. Jonathan, on the other hand, had to eat a sea slug in the same amount of time solely to let Ozzy Lusth get to eat friend chicken and mashed potatoes. No matter what, it’s safe to say nobody was hungry by the end of the proceedings!

Who is left in the game on Survivor 50?

Aubry Bracco

Cirie Fields

Emily Flippen

Joseph “Joe” Hunter

Jonathan Young

Ozzy Lusth

Rick Devens

Rizo Velovic

Tiffany Ervin
