It’s officially the last weekend of summer, and Calgary is getting one more taste of warm weather before the season ends. According to The Weather Network, temperatures are expected to reach 21°C on Saturday and 23°C on Sunday, with sunny skies ahead.

And there’s no telling how much longer we’ll get weekends like this, so now’s the time to get outside and make the most of what the city has to offer.

Here are 10 of the best things happening in and around Calgary this weekend.

The Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival is heading to Spruce Meadows this weekend for two evenings of sipping and snacking. You can sample wines, spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks, and food vendors will serve bites that pair perfectly with your drinks.

When: Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026
Time: Friday: 5:30 to 10 p.m.; Saturday: sessions from noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Spruce Meadows – 18011 Spruce Meadows Way SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: General Admission: Starting at $25, General Admission Plus: Starting at $68, VIP Experience: Starting at $100

Hot air balloons, thousands of lights, and fall activities will take over the Calgary Farmyard this weekend. After dark, the farm will be transformed with illuminated lights and autumn decor. The highlight will be the hot air balloon glow, with balloons lighting up against the starry night sky.

When: Friday, Sept. 18 to Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026
Time: 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Calgary Farmyard – 224 Township Rd., Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $36.95 plus GST

If you’ve ever wanted to get a closer look at the work of Calgary police, this is your chance. Discovery Day lets you check out specialized police vehicles and equipment, try your hand at forensic activities, and meet officers from specialized units.

Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Youthlink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre – 5111 47th St. NE, Calgary, Alta.

Hockey season is officially back in Calgary! The Calgary Hitmen will face off against the Red Deer Rebels at the Saddledome for the 2026-2027 home opener.

When: Friday, Sept. 18, 2026
Time: 7 p.m.
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome – 555 Saddledome Rise SE, Calgary, Alta.

Ready to get your steps in? The 46th Calgary Police Classic is taking over Cowboys Park this weekend with an 8 km race, a 21.1 km half marathon and a kids’ race, plus a post-race party at Cowboys Park with food trucks, live music, and awards.

When: Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026
Time: 6:30 a.m.
Where: Cowboys Park – 1220 9th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.

Grab your cowboy hat and head to Rose Ranch for a free afternoon of western fun. There will be tons of games and activities set up throughout the space, along with a petting zoo, mini donuts, face painting and more.

Time: Noon to 4 p.m.

A new Indigenous-led music festival is making its Calgary debut this weekend, with a lineup spanning country, hip hop, electronic, folk and traditional music. The festival will also feature live drum groups and appearances from Elders throughout the afternoon.

When: Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026
Time: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Macewan Hall – 2500 University Dr. NW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: General Admission: $19.20 per person

The NFL is bringing a fan experience to Calgary for the first time, and you can join in for free. Along with live games, there will be football challenges, tailgate activities, and a chance to get a photo with the actual Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Looking for a slightly more elegant way to spend your Sunday? The Lougheed House is hosting an afternoon tea session in the garden, with a spread of sweet treats and savoury bites.

Time: 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Lougheed House – 707 13th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $73.95 per person

The Calgary Zoo is hosting an adults-only evening dedicated to its snow leopards. You can get a closer look at the animals in the new Asian Highlands habitat, followed by a four-course dinner and stories from the team that cares for them.
