Another week of September in Edmonton is upon us, and it’s absolutely filled with great things to do.

With festivals, markets, and free dance lessons coming to the city, there’s going to be loads of things to do this week in Edmonton. It doesn’t matter if you have plans with family, friends, or a special loved one; there’s going to be something for everyone.

Every Tuesday in Churchill Square this next month, guests will have the opportunity to learn a type of Latin dance like salsa or bachata for free, all thanks to ETOWN SALSA. Whether you’re a novice or a beginner to the art of Latin dance, these free dance classes are going to give you the chance to learn and do something entirely new.

When: Every Tuesday in September 2026
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square — 1 Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Join friends at EVO for a night of Plant Bingo with complimentary bingo, plant prizes, and sounds by Uncle Jessie.

When: Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026
Time: 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: 11508 Jasper Ave., Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $35 plus taxes and fees

The first festival of its kind in Edmonton is bringing live music, art, delicious food and interactive booths from local vendors, all in the heart of downtown.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: 108th Street between 102nd Avenue and 104th Avenue
Cost: Free

Every week on Wednesdays, The Grindstone hosts one of Edmonton’s only stand-up comedy open mic nights. Open to both first-timers and seasoned comics, each set is five minutes for some good laughs.

When: Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026
Time: 10 p.m. to midnight
Where: Grindstone Theatre — 10019 81st Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Located at Salisbury Greenhouse in Sherwood Park, this market comes around every Thursday, rain or shine. You can find a wide variety of offerings here, no matter if it’s food, trinkets, or something entirely different.

When: Every Thursday
Time: 4 to 7 p.m.
Where: 52337 Range Rd. 232, Sherwood Park, Alta.
Cost: Free

124th Grand Market takes over the streets on Thursdays. Each week, there is a selection of over 60 rotating vendors with fresh produce, handmade goods, and trinkets, as well as food trucks that are going to satisfy your taste buds in every way.

When: Every Thursday now until Oct. 18, 2026
Time: 4 to 8 p.m.
Where: 108th Avenue and 124th Street, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: Free

Get ready for an unforgettable night of laughs at The Grindstone Theatre!

This improv night is an evening of top-tier comedy featuring the city’s best improvisers, performing hilarious, unscripted scenes based on your wildest suggestions.

When: Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026
Time: 7 to 8 p.m.
Where: Grindstone Theatre — 10019 81st Ave. NW, Edmonton, Alta.
Cost: $15.34+

Purple City Music Festival is back in Edmonton this September with over 125 artists taking over nine stages located throughout the downtown core. This multi-venue musical experience is dedicated to showcasing, as stated by Purple City, “new sounds from the global underground.”

When: Friday, Sept. 11, to Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026
Time: Various times
Where: Various locations
Cost: Free daytime programming; individual show tickets start at $25 plus fees

For three days this September, the Strathearn Art Walk will be taking over Edmonton before the summer wraps itself up. This free, family-friendly event focuses on bringing the community together by celebrating emerging — as well as professional — artists and musicians.

When: Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 to Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026
Time: 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday (beer garden only); Noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday; Noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday
Where: Along Strathearn Drive (between 89th Street and 91st Street)
